LG G5 or Google Nexus 6P?

Hello! I am looking to buy a new phone (currently own a samsung galaxy s5). I m looking for a phone that could last me for 2 years, maybe more. I m interested in a lag free phone with a nice display and camera. I m between the Lg G5 and the Nexus 6p. I think both of them are worthy upgrades from the S5 i own. What i mostly do on a phone is browsing the web, watching youtube and taking photos, so what i ask from a phone is a smooth experience, a good battery and a nice camera (at low light too). Which one would you suggest between those 2? I live in Greece and they have about the same price tag ( around 380 euros), i was thinking about Samsung Galaxy S7 but it's about 120 euros more. Anyways, sorry for the long post and i would love to hear your opinions :).

Welcome to Android Central! A number of recommendations for the 6P in your other post in that forum: http://forums.androidcentral.com/nexus-6p/718400-lg-g5-google-nexus-6p.html#post5378090. That'd also be what I recommend, but you're presumably looking for G5 owners' experiences on this forum. Since battery seems important to you, that's one area where the G5 has the advantage, since you can swap batteries easily. The 6P has a pretty big battery, but its battery life still isn't phenomenal--with relatively light-moderate use, I generally get around 3-4 hours of screen-on time per 100% charge on my 6P (which is extrapolated--I never use it down to 0% battery). Of course, that's not with constant use--if I used it constantly, it'd be more like 5 hours.

Hi Ive owned both the 6P and G5... Ive currently got the G5...

You need to know that the 6P is pure google, which means no frills or fancy UI like Touchwiz and it can be quite basic... youll hase to D/L most apps, while the camera is brilliant, it is purely a Automatic UI.. there is no Manual mode at all... but you can d/l a 3rd party app from the play store, like ProShot or Cam FV5... the front facing speakers on the 6P are VERY loud and great sound... but not quite as full rounded as the HTC M8, but they are Good :).

Coming from an S5, the 6P has a 5.7" AMOLED screen.. which means the phone is huge... great for movies and media, but can seem a bit big at first... and if you buy the 6P unbranded and unlocked you get the latest version of Android and security updates on release day... Android N is already out for 6P owners

There is NO sdcard, so if you like alot of photos or videos or music on your device... get the 64 or even the 128GB version.. It is a great phone, but personnaly for me, it was a bit on the big side and I found pure google abit too plain.... the 6P is great for 3rd party roms and tinkerring..:)

Now the G5 is different in every way.... it has a dual camera setup, an SDCard slot and tbe single 2amp speaker is very loud and surprisingly good... its also 24bit, so you can use it in your media centre to play hi-res music..

The G5 is much smaller than the 6p and easily managable, it also uses LGs UX5 skin, which is quite nice.

Now or some of the reviews online... the G5 is not hideous or ugly as the Samsung kids keep saying it is.., it has 2 camera eyes on the back which can give the G5 a robot look, and as everyone and their dog has an iPhone or a Samsung, the G5 looks unique and actually quite cool... Ive personally never had any issues with the anodised back cover looking like plastic, there are alot of complaints about this... I like it.
However, one thing I will say is If you do go for a G5... before you buy check that the battery base where the module meets the body of the phone, there are no big gaps. but apart from that... Its a stunning phone...

Both phones are awesome in their own way and very fast and smooth .. the 6p is Big, Its Loud .. but its pure Android with no frills or Skins, it has no SDcard and youll probable have to download most apps to the 6P:)

The G5 is smaller, but looks very cool.. has 2 amazing cameras and has Hi-Res audio...

Hope that helps :)

Nice writeup, NightOrchid!

I would like to add a couple of things.

The G5 has an IR Blaster. I don't think the 6P does.

Also... SD card support up to 2tb. But the largest they make so far is 200gb. I know for sure the 6P has no SD support.

The G5 cameras also have OIS. I don't think the 6P has that either. Plus... You can't forget about the second wide-angle shooter which is definitely an awesome extra. The things you can do with the two cameras together is something special and really fun to play with. I don't know which main camera is better between the two but I do know all the flagship phones take awesome photos. And yes, having manual mode certainly is a great option if you know what you are doing.

The G5 is definitely an awesome gadget.

I'm a pure Android junkie and would have preferred the 6P in the beginning. But, the longer I have this phone the better I like it. Pure Android and immediate updates are looking less attractive every day I have the G5.

The good news is that you can't make a mistake choosing one of these phones.

Good luck.

I had both....bought the G5. Kept it for 2 weeks returned it and bought the 6P. Kept that for 2 weeks while waiting for the HTC 10 came. Didn't care for the HTC and I got a great deal on the G5 so I returned the 6P
