Wondering if someone can help me get to the bottom of this. I transferred a 4K movie file to my external drive to play on my TV and I can't get it to play.

The video plays on my PC using VLC and it's a UHD recording on the G5. I have tried Kodi, VLC, the stock android TV player and none of them play the file.

It's an MP4 file and plugging it back into the PC shows the video working fine. Naming convention of the file has been changed several times too to see if that's the problem.

Am I doing something wrong? Should I be transferring these files in a different way? On my Note 3 I just dragged and dropped into the USB drive and it worked perfectly on my TV. :(

Hi, have you tried chromecast? Screen mirroring your phone to your tv?
Hi, it's an android TV already so I don't need Chromecast. I've tried the screen mirroring. Oddly the picture is shaky when I mirror from this phone compared to my note 3.

But screen mirroring won't play the file in 4k :(

Sony 4K TV support to play 4K video with H.265 codec, obviously, the MP4 video recorded by your LG G5 doesn't encode with that codec, so you will fail to play the video, you can free download Handbrake to encode H.265 video from LG G5 video.
