LG G6 - Camera shots! Show us your pictures

Here are the details from my picture earlier with my G6. I think they are keeping the iso too low. My pic with z play the iso was 320. I think it can be fixed with software. I think if it bumped the iso yo 400 it would have produce a better picture for me.

It's subject movement blur for sure. I see you're in Mesa. I lived in Tucson from 1976 until 2015. I retired and moved to the Philippines where I still live. Enjoyed Arizona a lot for the many years that I lived there.

Love the winters here..... summers we try to get to the mountains on the weekends.

Here is another one from last night. Our dog is blurry and so are the bushes and they weren't moving.

Here is one where she is standing still and she is still blurry.

Wow, that's really bad, and not close to the photos we've seen in the reviews. What the hell is going on? It will be ashamed to have to return this phone after so much other potential.

Wow, the blurry pictures must be pretty frustrating. I currently have a Galaxy S7, and I often get blurry photos when people or objects are moving in the scene. I usually use the AUTO setting, but I've also tried using a downloadable "SPORTS" setting with no better results. I hope this is something fixable with software, otherwise I'll have to really reconsider getting an LG G6.

This is a 4 month old puppy walking around. Not running, just slowly walking. She is blurred and zoomed in, there is no detail at all on her.

This is an absolute joke of a camera put out by LG. I couldn't be more disappointed.

Before I post this let me say this. My eyes arent the best at seeing problems in pictures and I am in no way an experienced photographer nor do I know what half of these camera settings do.

That being said. I put the camera in manual mode and turned off AE-L (no clue what that does) so I could see how the iso and shutter was adjusting. I snapped a couple pics of some cars going by at about 25-30mph and to me they look a little better than yesterdays. Like I said, my eyes dont see some of the detail you guys see.

edit: I took a look at some of the horrible pics from last night and noticed the shutter speed is incredibly low. Like 1/4 and 1/20. The iso is up at 750. Shouldnt shutter speed be significantly higher and iso be a bit lower?

Yep, those look pretty good.

But, you took the time to set them up. You didn't just pull the camera out of your pocket to get a quick pic.

There's no doubt the camera can take great pics when there is time to set up the shot. Unfortunately kids and small puppies don't really give you that time and they don't really respond to retakes either lol.

I just messaged Tforce and they are sending me a return label. Less than 24 hours and this thing is going back.

One more icing on the cake... The Samsung Gear app said the G6 wasn't compatible so I couldn't download watch faces or apps onto my Gear S3 Frontier and couldn't use Samsung Pay either. Works just fine on the V20.

That sucks. Im not a big photo guy so I'll be keeping it but something needs to be done to fix the issue and Im hoping its sooner than later. Im hoping I wont have any issues tomorrow at the softball game since I do like to get a few shots of my kid. I may just leave it on manual and let it do its thing automatically. It seems to give a higher shutter speed doing that rather than auto mode.

Yeah, I really liked the phone except for the camera. Feels good in the hand, really smooth and fast, battery life seemed like it would be really good. But I was looking for a better camera. Looks like I might have to really look at the S8 and S8+. The Note 8 later this year is an almost certainty. I wouldn't be having these camera issues if the Note 7 fiasco hadn't occurred.

Totally agree. I wouldnt have spent a fortune on phones if the Note 7 hadnt happened since Ive been looking for something that equals it ever since. The Note 8 is definitely going to be in my hands when it releases unless the do something really stupid with it or the software of the s8 series is just plain horrible. Sorry the G6 isnt working out though. Ive been through enough phones this year to know how aggravating it is when the one feature you want is a let down.

I guess a nice benefit of JOD is trying out phones with minimal cash hit. I have it in writing no restocking fee on the G6 but I have to send it back UPS so it won't be an instant return like to a store. Oh well. It's only going 200 miles so hopefully it will be processed quick.

Enjoy the G6 for the next 5 months until the Note 8

I went by my local TMO store and they will let me use JoD for the S8 to make for the G6 camera. I know most them being a phone junkie and all. They all kinda knew the G6 would have camera issues since the sensor is the same as the V20.

It kind of depends on what you are taking pictures of. It's all about controlling the light and how much light you are wanting. When taking pictures of a still or landscape I would rather have low iso and have a shutter speed that is lower. If you have people or any movement you need more light on the shot to shot the motion. You can do that with higher iso and shutter speed. I think it can be fixed with a software update. The question is if lg thinks an update is needed. I haven't decided what I'm doing yet.

I have a V20 and it takes stunning photos, so I'm not sure why the complaints about it and the sensor.

And a low light shot with the V20. I'm including a screen shot of the photo info. Note the iso was 1200 as proof of low light shot. This was totally on auto, not manual exposure.

But to be honest even budget phones can get still shots like that done right with today's technology.
Throw in less than optimal settings like low light and a little motion and things fall apart.

Then my experiences with the G6 is mainly what I am discussing here.

Then to be clear I am talking about point and shoot with no post processing or editing.

The G6 camera is very bad in my experiences so far with the phone.

Those are all still shots. What about moving objects? That's where the concern is.
I'll take some shots of movement in the morning. I'm in the Philippines and it's 10:45 pm Monday night here now.
I'll make some photos of dogs outside tomorrow. Lots of them here. Haha.
Anyway moving objects are also fine. I have 3 phones at the moment. A Huawei P9 which I haven't used in a while, a Huawei Mate 9 and a LG V20. The Mate 9 and the V20 have two of the best cameras that's I've ever used in a cellphone and that includes the Samsung S6 edge and S7 edge.
I fully plan to get a G6 as a replacement for one of the two larger (Mate 9, V20) phones that I have now and sell one of the larger ones and also sell the P9.
