LG G6 - Camera shots! Show us your pictures

Well, you guys can count me as someone who does not like the camera on the G6. I brought it and my Pixel XL to the Blackhawks game this morning and took some pictures of my wife and daughter. Let me just say, the G6 looks pixelated and blurry when you zoom in. It also has problems with motion blur. I just can't see using this as my daily driver right now unless I can get one second hand for cheap.

The front camera is even worse. I took a few selfies of the 3 of us and it looks like a bad abstract painting.

I'm decidedly mixed on the camera right now. From what I've seen over the last 4 days, dim light and movement are handled MUCH worse than my old G4. (Particularly difficult to get a pic of my 2 year old that doesn't like like a blurry oil painting. Wasn't easy with my G4 to be fair, but this is MUCH worse). First two were taken at dusk. The other two were in broad daylight.

Hoping that these camera issues are corrected via an update, as it seems like many of the issues are software related. One of the reason we chose the G6 for my wife was all of the glowing reviews of the camera. Granted, motion shots are rare, but always nice to grab them when needed.

Why did the Pixel have to have such a poor IP rating!?

Those exhibit what I am seeing pretty accurately. The front cam looks even worse.

It's so frustrating because the G4 didn't have issues like this. I haven't tried using manual, but I wonder if I can resort to that until LG fixes the issue with Auto. Anybody tried that?

Ive used manual but it definitely takes much longer than I'd like. Ive resorted to just using the flash for now since Im not a photographer and dont really care about anything except getting the shot. I also rarely take a low light shot so at this point Ive kind of gotten used to its limitations.

The blur is exactly why I returned the phone within 24 hours and it's my primary source of frustration with the V20.

Just to note, the V20 has been out 6 months or so and the hasn't been any update that helped motion blur with the camera.

They might be able to address it on the G6 but I wouldn't hold my breath. The 2015 camera sensor might be the problem and software may not me able to compensate for the outdated hardware.

You've found putting the flash on auto solves the problem then? I can live with that if it does.

I dont know if Id say "solves" it or not since I only took a couple pics with it to test. It seemed to make it a little better though. I was able to get a shot of my dog walking with it.

would like to read/know your opinions on these five pictures taken with the G6: night time building with normal and wide angle, 1 night time shot and, pictures of the sky at 15,000 feet in normal and wide angle. all pictures were point-and-shoot on auto mode. i consider these pics to be very good for my needs/uses. thanks for your replies/input.

Thank you for taking the time to shoot these photos and post them. These photos probably look a lot better on the phone itself but when I view them on a normal computer screen, close-up details look like an oil painting. For example, the picture of the buildings, the reflected light in the windows look like them are painted on.

These shots are very disappointing. I was going to buy this phone too but now I'm going to refrain. I don't think any software update is coming either that is going to resolve this type of processing.

Were you getting blurry pictures of bright landscapes? If you were, I'd say you had a bad unit. If you were getting blurry pictures with motion or in medium light (I wouldn't even say low because well lit, indoor spaces are giving me trouble), I'd say that's just the camera software.

FYI, I have run tests in manual and saving as RAW. I can get a clear picture from the dng file, so I am very confident it is the software algorithm over processing the pictures taken on auto and not the sensor itself that's causing issues. Anyone else tried the same that can confirm?

Yes, doing this improves the image quite a bit. The problem is expecting lg to fix it with a software upgrade. They haven't fixed it on the v20. I got better pics on my v20 over the G6.

I think it'll depend on whether or not the reviewers call out the issue or not. If they're getting bad press over it, I expect a software fix just like HTC did with the 10. If the reviewers don't notice it in their testing and don't mention it, I doubt we'll see anything.

Nice pics...that looks my neck of the woods in Arizona?

I had the G6 for a week and returned it because the camera would produce some very blurry pictures.
Looking at everyone elses pictures here.....i might have had a bad unit :-)
Thanks. The saguaro is a dead giveaway lol. These were taken out at Silly Mountain near Gold Canyon
