LG G6 When wireless charging screen only shows the always on display

[Android Central Question]

Just picked up a wireless charger and whenever I dock the phone, the only thing I can get is the basic always on display. I can't unlock or use it and the screen is unresponsive. Saying "Ok Google" the outside flashes white like its opening the assistant but the display still doesn't change. Anyone else have this issue or any suggestions?
