The swipe ups are really jerky and not at all smooth. My S9+ with Android 9 is much smoother.

I even tried with Lawnchair 2 and it is even worse.

I am really surprised at how bad it is.

Anyone else having this issue?

I want to like the G8 but I might have to return it.

Mine is fluid...actually too fluid. When I'm sliding an app or webpage side to side, it forces the back function. Swipe up had been fine for me. Kind of wish there was still a back button, lol...I was spoiled by BB10 back in the day.

I've been using gestures since I got the 10 update 3 weeks ago and haven't had any issue using them. They're smooth and for me very intuitive. In the past when I've run into issues that seemingly can't be fixed a herd reset usually works.

Is this happening with the stock launcher or a custom one?

With lg launcher is not terrible, but not as smooth as the s9+ with one. With lawn chair launcher v2 it is terrible. The swipe up to close in particular.

I spent hours setting everything up, at this point i would rather return it then start all over.

I feel like the LG software is not up to speed.

That also happens with different brands after Android 10. Google changed the way to handle the Recent apps and as a result the swipe up gesture for Home is not smooth while using custom launchers. And there's nothing that the devs of these launchers can do to improve it.

Some OEMs, like Moto, Nokia or Samsung, even disabled full gestures for custom launchers.

Thanks for the info. Samsung has it's own gestures in Android 9 which are pretty smooth. It's a shame LG didn't go down the same route.

I actually don't mind one ui, I just hate the curved screen which is why i thought I would try the G8.

A few more questions, as you guys have been very helpful:

1) when i swipe up and hold, and get all the open apps, is there an option to change how they are displayed, for example stacked vs next to each. One UI has this option.

2) what does everyone think of LG skin on A10? I like One UI, would you say it is similar to that? I did notice there are almost no free icons, wondering if other customizations are as limited when compared to Samsung.

Thanks!

Have you tried safe mode if it's the same ?

I tried, same thing. I think it's just the way the animations work on the LG skin. It is not necessarily slow, but clunky compared to one UI to the point it feels a bit slow and unfinished.

As to 3rd party launchers, as explained above it seems to be an Android issue which Google says they will solve at some point.

Thanks for the suggestion.

You could try changing the animation values to 0.5x in the Developer Options. See if you like it more this way.

Do you have different gesture you can choose from ? If so maybe try different one , if that's not the case maybe you right that it needs something fix in a update.

Is a hard reset same as factory reset? And when i restore from Google, will it set everything back up as it was since it is same phone, or will it be like a restore to a new phone where it loads apps and data, but i need to set everything up the way i like it again?

Thanks.

Within the skin there are not different options I think...

Maybe go to buttons instead of gestures could work out better.

I have the s9+. Seems that lg has fewer options. You can rearrange the buttons but can't do much with gestures.

Not sure I can go back to buttons...

I guess i just need to play with it a bit. I have a return window so just need to.figure out if i hold onto it (only paid 350) or return and stick to my s9 until the pixel 4a or 7t goes on sale.

Maybe i was expecting too much as i heard the LG skin got much better with A10.

I though be option on lg phone , explore it little more but you have a return window which is good .
I have the pixel 4xl a very good phone so the pix 4a should be great also and 1+7pro is awesome phone .
