LG Intuition ICS based, Foxfi wifi tether question!

Thinking about picking up a backup phablet in the unlikely event my Note 2 breaks. Intuition goes for a reasonable 150-200 off contract (via ebay and craigs). My question is whether or not apps like Foxfi and SVTP will work to provide wifi. I do not root my phones, nor intend to as Foxfi works great on the Note 2. I have heard that LG is notoriously fickle on bootloaders and locking down their phones. I know a root method is possible, but difficult. So my question is if anyone can confirm if Foxfi works on the LG intuition for wifi tether, or if there is a viable alternative (something like open garden or something) Thanks!
