Question LG K40 very slow

Hi
I have an Android LG K40 with Android OS 10, it can't be updated. In the last couple of months it has become terribly slow, especially on news services like AOL.
I really liked the phone before this happened and really don't want to buy a new one!
Any suggestions anyone?

Welcome to Android Central! Are you talking about individual apps being slow, or is it the AOL website that's slow on the browser?

The phone has slowed generally. But AOL is the worst affected. I've cleared caches and all that stuff (I think!)

Unfortunately there likely isn't much you can do. That is a low end budget phone released 5 years ago, which means it was almost obsolete from the start. With websites and apps becoming more and more resource intensive over the years, I'm thinking it's finally become too much for that phone to reliably handle. Especially when it comes to heavy sites like AOL that load up tons of info and video into a single perpetual scrolling page. If you are unable to upgrade it, I would suggest you try finding sites that are more friendly to your limitations, and maybe even using a lightweight browser.

Thanks, I caved and bought a Galaxy A15 5G with OS 14. Big improvement!

Phones like the LG K40 (released in 2019) have limited RAM and older chipsets, so it’s normal for them to struggle with today’s heavy apps and sites.
