LG Keyboard oddities

I like the LG keyboard (for the most part) but what I like even more is not seeing the keyboard icon in the notification bar when typing.

That said, I have noticed some really weird things when using it.

An example of what drives me nuts - try typing the word 'with'. mine autocorrects to 38th, every time. IDK why it would pick that, but it does. Also, always corrects gave to have, which is also annoying.

Anyone else seeing anything like this?

(And I know, there are other keyboards, yada yada.)

Nope, it is still "with". Although it does have 28th as a suggestion on the right word. I guess "2" or "3" is just above "w" and "8" is above "i". Maybe at one point you selected "38th" and now it is in your personal dictionary?

Try telling it 38th is not a word. Mine has chosen a couple odd ones while swyping, but overall pretty accurate so far

I hate using autocorrect for reasons like that. I have it off and android has been pretty good about learning what I want to say and picked up btw (by the way) and others over time with my old phone

I think I am going to turn off auto correct for a bit as well.

I liked some features of the LG keyboard. All the punctuation characters that are available on the main keyboard screen, with just a long-press, is really nice. No need to go to the numbers screen just to get a "-" or whatever. And I thought long-pressing the space bar, to slide the cursor left-right, is genius! Placing the cursor correctly to make an edit was a hassle on my last phone.

I know this will sound silly, but the slow animations for the word-suggestions drove me nuts :-[ I'm trying to use those to save time, dangit :) Don't animate them up into view after a slight delay! Show them NOW so I can tap on them if I want them. Typing a character or two, then pausing to see what it shows, then typing some more, and pausing to see the new suggestions, just bothered me.

I'm trying the Google Keyboard at the moment. I like the suggestions and swiping better. But I have to go to the 2nd screen for more punctuation characters, which is unfortunate. And no spacebar to move the cursor.

On my last phone, I was using an old version of the Touchpal keyboard, and loved it. It had more punctuation characters than Google's on the main screen, and numbers were combined with the top row of letters (drag up to get the number, tap for the letter). To delete a whole word you swipe-left on the backspace key, and you can keep doing that to delete multiple words. Such a simple, but awesome, feature. Deleting multiple words with the LG or Google keyboards seems to involve a bunch of taps, or holding backspace, and trying not to go too far.

I know, I know. First world problems....

Try clearing word suggestions. Go to keyboard setting >tap word suggestion>then select clear suggestion history and that might help.
