LG Nexus 5 hangs during startup - what can I do?

My phone ran out of charge during the night so when i awoke I put it on charge for an hour or so.

i then turned it on - it displayed 'google' and then it displayed the swirling coloured dots. It progressed no further.

If I hold down the start button it restarts, only to hang at the same point.

Any suggestions will be appreciated

Are you able to get into Recovery Mode? If so a Cache Partition wipe may be worth doing.
Also in your position I'd be inclined to charge for much longer than an hour.

I'd suggest leaving it on the charger for 3-4 hours at least before you attempt to start it back up again.

I have wiped cache and data and then restarted with the same result - just hangs on the swirly coloured dot page. I have turned the device off and am now continuing to charge it to see if that makes a difference....

ah - transpires that the phone is within warranty and it is a known issue, so LG are picking it up to fix it - yippee

Will keep you all posted on any developments
