LG Optimus Fuel (L34C) wifi turning on when waking the phone?

Mine started to do this too. I believe it started after some app updated. I am not real sure which app, but I believe it's google or google play services. (Are ALL those google apps really necessary? I don't need music, games, news, reading, plus...)

I have done the factory reset and set the app store to not auto update anything. It's been an hour and so far the phone is behaving.

My L34C started exhibiting the same behavior a couple of weeks ago. It got weirder, the wi-fi icon in the quick settings/notifications panel would animate (the 'waves' would pulse) but the icon wouldn't change color (to blue for connected) and also wouldn't let me enable wi-fi. I ended up doing a hardware reset, but I also (just) received the following response from Straight Talk. Hope this helps (my added emphasis):

Please be informed that the new "My Account" Application on your phone will connect to any eligible Wi-Fi network automatically. The feature searches for connectable Wi-Fi networks, and turns on the phone’s Wi-Fi antenna to connect to the network, so even turning off the phone’s Wi-Fi will not disable this feature.

The Straight Talk "My Account" application also helps provide a better data experience by automatically connecting to available Wi-Fi hotspots whenever you are near them. The application performs a test of each hotspot to ensure that you are only connected to quality hotspots.

However, if you would like to remove remove or disconnect the Wi-Fi feature from the application, please respond to this email with your request. For immediate assistance, please contact us via Chat or contact one of our customer care representatives at 1-866-667-6470 and enter Reference PIN ######. Moreover, the Reference PIN is valid only for two weeks. For your convenience, our representatives are available Monday-Sunday from 8:00 AM to 11:45 PM EST.

Mine was flashing also. Today it started to do it all over again, even though I had done the factory reset.

Here is to hoping that removing that application will help.

I uninstalled the "my account" app and turned my WiFi off manually and it didn't automatically turn back on. I think this was the best advice I have found.

Although these posters found out it was most likely My Account, it is also possible for other apps to turn things on and off and many install them selves on a reboot. Most will not live through a Phone Reset though. My Account is made by the carrier and is probably more tricky. I have the same phone but with Tracfone and I have a My Account also. I have not noticed any wifi weirdness but I leave mine on always because I can use Wifi instead of burning my expensive minutes (at least when I have Wifi). That may hide the problem from me.

Actually, what I found to help on this topic - cause I just bought a Optimus Fuel myself - was to go into advanced wifi settings. In there is a tab that says keep ''Keep WiFi on durring Sleep". When I turned this off, and a few of the other things meant to monitor, or change the way the WiFi behaved, it stopped turning the wifi on when I put the phone to sleep.

I also went into the settings of all of my apps. And turned the wifi crap off. So that way, it will only use the WiFi when I let it connect to my wifi.

For those users who have the Optimus Fuel, this is why your batteries go so quickly. As soon as I got it to stop checking the wifi when it goes to sleep, the battery lasts me almost a day and a half.

Hope this helps!

Well the same thing keeps on happening to me but I aint connected to the WiFi and it still cuts back on wth:-!:-!:-!:-!:-!:-!:-\

I am having this same problem - Wi-Fi goes into a spasm that can be corrected for a while by rebooting the phone. For me it happens when I connect it to the USB charger or to my computer through USB. Good to know that it might be the "My Account" app. I'm actually relieved that I'm not the only one having this problem and that it is likely not a faulty phone.

Thank you to Nathan (Post #27). It took me awhile to find the advanced Wi-Fi settings, but I found them and have followed Nathan's suggestions.

P.S. You get to the advanced Wi-Fi settings by going to settings ---> Wi-Fi ----> Rightmost button on the bottom front of the phone (three horizontal lines button) ---> Advanced settings.
