LG Optimus S (LS670) Maintenance Release 2/7/11

The phone in question is already rooted.

Do I need to unroot it for the update as it attempted to update once before but failed showing the yellow exclamation point.
Thanks again
To update to VC, most people are following the instructions in the unroot thread:
http://forum.androidcentral.com/lg-...45403-how-unroot-your-phone-return-stock.html

Then once they have VC (via LG Software Updater) they are rooting with the new root instructions for VC here:
http://forum.androidcentral.com/lg-...-guide-rooting-software-version-ls670zvc.html

Depending on what you have installed, there could be other ways you can get to VC in fewer steps but I'd only suggest pursuing that if you know what you are doing.

For example, if you have stock V9 installed along with stock recovery, you could just run the LG Software Updater to get VC.

Did you configure MAC filtering in your router? Your new phone has a new MAC address.

Thanks for the idea, but neither router which didn't connect had MAC filtering enabled.

So no one else is seeing this issue?

This was exactly what I was looking to find. Is this info available on a sticky on the ROM forum page? Should another thread be started outlining these steps? Or am I being dense?

Plan on doing this come the weekend. I'm getting tired of the OTA update nagging.

The only other thing I've seen that might cause your issue is if your SSID on your Router/AP is set to not broadcast. A person on another thread had problems until the set their router/AP to broadcast SSID. They didn't have the problem with V9.

I'm just gonna stick with V9. I'm not having any issues with the SD card or selecting English. I deleted the update file from the cache folder and selected to update. The update failed in the stock recovery module, I rebooted, and the nagging went away. Blocking data for mvpdm should prevent further update notifications.

I've had the wifi issue before on my Optimus S. I don't know why it works, but this is how I fixed it:

1: On your phone, "forget" your home network
2: Reboot your router
3: Once the router is back up, connect your phone to your home network

OK, so I waited a couple days to get the update, just to see what all of the people here who are smarter than me said about it. I updated using the PC download tool from LG support site. It loaded the update fine, and the phone rebooted as part of the update. However, I rebooted one more time, and the "LG" screen came up and won't move forward from there. I had to go to the Sprint store to see what they could do and they wiped and reloaded everything stock to my phone with the new VC updated version, so I've been reloading everything for the last two hours.

As a note, I had rooted back in V9 using but had unrooted the phone prior to updating.

Not looking for help right now. Just passing on the info to the people here who are keeping track and working mods and ROMs and stuff.

I too waited a few days before I did the VC update from the LG software. It auto restarted fine but the next restart I did by taking out the battery also cause the "LG" screen to come up and not move forward. I went to the store and they made it worst and the "LG" won't even come on so they have to ship a new replacement phone for me over the weekend. Once it came, they tried to do the OTA update but my battery was out so they told me to do it at home since they didn't want to wait for the battery to be full. Now that I see it wasn't just me that has this problem, I don't think I want to do the update again too scary!

Also hard reset didn't fix the "LG" screen being stuck only way was to get an replacement for me.

Two quick observations about VC for me:

1. I really don't like what the new drivers have done with the display. The best analogy I can come up with relates to HDTV settings. It's like they've gone from Movie/Cinema mode, with great shadow detail, to Vivid, where they're only concerned about making the display *pop* for showrooms.

2. When I tried to update my PRL on V9, I would always get a message saying my PRL was updated when it was done checking, even though it wouldn't actually update most of the time. Now, under VC, I get a message telling me there isn't an update available on the actual occasions where there isn't one.

Mine updated, wifes hasnt. Dont let it if u use it as a tether for your pc! After update your screwed! Initilizing hot spot or tehering disables 3G and network is unavailable.

my hotspot widget stopped working after the update....wtf?

I am kinda ticked I DL'd this update based on the information people provided in this thread and they were completely full of crap...actually I am ticked.

This thread is for the VC update. It didn't break hotspot widget. The VD update is probably what you accepted, and that does break it. I wouldn't go around blaming others before you read the other threads that clearly state the VD update will break the hotspot widget.

I'm new here, so I can't blame anyone here. I just want to find a away around the update to re-gain usage to Hotspot Widget. It's my Wife's phone and she is PISSED.

Hi,
Can you direct me to more info on this ROM and learn how to root?
I'm new to this, lol. I updated and now can't use Hotspot Widget.

Thanks in advance,
-Cruz

My optimus s is stuck in a boot loop after going from ZVD back to V9 to install recovery (thundeROM). I rooted with z4, everything was peachy. I rebooted with ANIM MOD and BOOT LOOP!! HELP!!!!!

can you get into recovery mode? Volume down, home, power from off.

If so, wipe cache, data, clear basically everything you can from recovery

And then, install debug, rom, gapps in that order.

Swyped from my g-breaded optimus prime.
