I just don't see the point, unless your bricked.
The devs here already have a ton of ROMs for us to play with. Pretty much all the cm7 roms run perfect.
Unless there are benefits besides being able to run a few more ROMs?
Actually I still run the same ov roms, but I get better signal/service with the newer radio firmware

Changing firmware isn't easy but is better. The ZVJ radio/firmware update is true sprint.
The VM670(2.2.1/2.2.2 froyo) is a subversion of the LS670.
Take for example, when you update the ov (zv9) you still are running froyo. Updating the LS670 to ZVJ gets you to gingerbread and the updated sprint radio. All this at stock value.
Using my VM670 running rooted stock ZVJ
All ov roms will still work with zvj but you have to use the zvd-zvj patch. So one extra file to flash after gapps
