lg pay

I'm VERY interested in this...the G6 has the hardware in it for the non-TapToPay terminals, right?

That was the initial thought but after reading some articles I don't believe so. It appears to be NFC payments just like Android Pay. I can't find mention of MST in the G6.

I'm sorry guys, but someone has to explain to me why I would want to pay for stuff with my phone. Yeah, it may be faster than paying with a credit card, but it can't be more secure a card with a chip.... can it?
Also your phone goes dead..... oh waiter... can you wait till I plug in my phone to pay? Why not just jump ahead in tecnology and lets all get chips implanted in our hand? Oh wait..,. then someone will try to steal your hand.

It's substantially more secure. Android pay, Samsung pay etc all use tokens and not your actual card number. Once you start the process to pay you get a token that lasts 1 transaction and once it's used it can't be reused. There's no way anyone can capture your card information that way because your card numbers never come into play. Chips can still be captured through skimmers.

With Samsung pay it gets even better because not only do I get points from my credit card but I get them through Samsung pay as well. Right now I have just shy of 10,000 which equals a $50 visa card.

As for the phone dying, well then you just grab your card from your wallet. At that point anyone who takes it to ring a transaction can copy it's information. Huge security risk.

Thanks for clarifying but I'll stick to my old school ways for now.

Apparently so, but knowing LG only the Asian models probably have the actual hardware....

Everywhere here in the UK pretty much accepts contactless now, the few that don't will use chip and pin. We haven't used magnetic swipe for over a decade and all bank cards are contactless with chip and pin to fall back on.

LG Pay uses a Wireless Magnetic Communication (WMC) system to authenticate payments, which are confirmed on the device with the fingerprint scanner. The system, created by a company named Dynamics Inc., allows an LG phone to read and save any standard card with a magnetic stripe, and then send that information to the majority of payment terminals used by shops around the world. https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/lg-g-pay-news/amp/
