LG Phone With Intermittent Bluetooth Vehicle Connection

My wife and I both have LG Stylo 3 phones (LGM430) running Android 7.0. Both are current with the latest LG updates.

Using our LG phones, the bluetooth connections work great on two of our vehicles including a 2011 Subaru Outback that was recently totaled. It's replacement is a 2016 Outback. When trying to connect to the new Outback via Bluetooth, it causes both phone and car to turn off Bluetooth. It will stay off for about 10 seconds, then reconnect. The connection will hold for a couple of seconds and up to about 20 seconds, then they disconnect.

I removed my phone and tried connecting my wife's phone. Same problem. I dug out two old Samsung phones and both connected without any problems.

I have tried a soft reset, removing battery, setting up the connection via the cars voice commands, reset all settings and still I get the same problem. I have contacted Cricket Wireless (where we bought the phones) and they say that they hear this a lot...neither could they get it to connect! I had Subaru attempt to set it up and they said is was my phone.

So, I am at a complete loss. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!

Have you asked Subaru if there are any firmware updates for the car system?

Also, 2.4 GHz wi-fi can sometimes interfere with Bluetooth. If your wi-fi radio is on, see what happens if you turn it off.

B. Diddy,
thanks for the suggestions. All wifi was turned off...still no joy. When I spoke with the local Subaru dealer they did not mention any type of firmware updates...and I didn't ask. But, I will check on that today. Thanks again.

Try also booting the phone into Safe Mode, in case some 3rd party app is interfering: https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-34688

Thanks. I tried Safe Mode...no joy. I did get a call today from the local Subaru dealer and the lady told me she had been checking into my problem. ...Obviously I made a friend at the dealer... She said there were several TSB's that have been issued regarding Bluetooth problems. She said that when I come in for my next service she would make sure that all those were addressed. Well....OK. I typically do my own service, but she was so smooth with "selling the service" that I will let them do the next service...just a few weeks out.

I guess after that...we'll see what happens. In the meantime...I am still looking for options! :)
