I have a LG K20V that died while charging on Monday 9/25. I bought the phone from Verizon with a prepaid account on 9/15. Verizon offered to replace my NEW phone with a "Certified Like-New" phone of the same model. I have issues with replacing a new phone with a used phone and trusting LG to certify it accurately. Since I am within the 14 day exchange period, I am considering exchanging it for a NEW Samsung Galaxy J7.
Prior to purchasing this phone, I bought a different LG K20 plus on eBay. This phone had a problem with ghost taps, opening apps and changing settings without my touching the phone. The problem was intermittent and first occurred after 3 days of receiving the phone. Per the seller recommendation, I sent it to LG for repair. Two weeks later LG returned the phone to me, having replaced the speaker for an echo problem. Yes, you read that correctly!
After 12 hours the ghost taps returned and it was sent to LG again, along with detailed, but concise description of the problem. This time they replace the LCD display for “No image on display screen” (which had never occurred with me). I haven't sent the phone back to LG again and I'm still arguing with the seller to try to get my money back.
Now my dilemma. I have to decide by tomorrow whether to keep a "Certified Like-New" LG K20 V or exchange it for a Samsung Galaxy J7. I actually like the LG K20 V better due to size and other features if it would ONLY work like it was intended to work. I am also concerned that I could have hardware problems with a Samsung since I have no experience with their customer service.
Has anyone here had experiences good or bad with LG "Certified Like-New" phones? (I think the CL-N phone is being sent from the LG repair center in Fort Worth - who are the same incompetent folks who couldn't fix the other phone.)
Has anyone here had experiences with Samsung repair or know of Samsung's reputation for quality?
I realize that I'm talking about phones on the low end of the price range. Does cheap should mean less features or does it mean unreliability?
Thank you in advance for sharing any experiences or advice.
