LG Stylus 2 Plus MS550

Heya

So I just saw this phone had come out so yesterday I got on on a spur Had the G Stylo until then, but this has an Octa Core processor, more ram, fingerprint scanner, etc etc.

Problem is, this phone is super new. I can't locate any way to root it (kingroot oneclickroot etc didn't work) Can't seem to find a twrp that would support it or I would just adb flash that or boot to that and flash superuser.

So I suppose, anyone out there have any ideas on how to root or get a new recovery onto it? I do like the phone, it's nice and fast and the fingerprint unlock is super useful

We barely had any developers for the OG Stylo. The one developer we had left never to be seen again.

It may be a while before we have someone figure out root for the stylo 2 plus.

I am assuming you are with MetroPCS. The RAM is actually the same as the Metro OG Stylo.

Kinda what I thought. It's a damn shame the stylo was a good phone too. I thought the Stylo only had 1 gig but maybe I was wrong. I left it with the guy for some free ****. Yeah i'm with Metro. When I tried king root it said only 68 people had requested it lol.

Anyone have any idea what other phones this may be similar to that would have a twrp or something? Then at least i'd experiment and fastboot into the recovery img to see if it worked and then try to get su in there. Ah well I can live without root for now I suppose, just going to be a PITA

Yep, the OG Stylo/Metro and T-Mobile variants, have 2 GB RAM. Alot of OG Stylo users weren't that excited about the Stylo 2 Plus "only" gettin 2 GB RAM....Looks like T-Mobile is rumored to be getting the 3GB RAM/32 GB version. Oh well.

I'm sure root and TWRP will come for the Stylo 2 Plus. It's just a shame they gave Metro the lower version. It was so convenient having the same exact phone for Tmobile and Metro. You could flash the kdz files on the other's phones lol.

Does anybody have the actual screen resolution?? Is it the same as the LG G Stylo 1 1280x720.. Metro PCS and LG both state it has a TFT IPS HD Display, but they don't list the actual resoluton??

Same resolution...sigh.i have the phone and I'm really disappointed. You have to download Nova launcher because phone doesn't come with app drawer. Everything is in screen. But I guess I'll learn to love it.

Ive been tempted to try the custom twrp built for the og metro stylo but since i cant find a kdz for the plus im afraid i wont be able to get back to stock

i succesfully unlocked the bootloader on my lg g stylo 2 plus or lg ms 550 from metro pcs it was actually very easy for some reason this device dose not have download mode like most lgs it goes straight to fastboot mode when you try and enter download mode how i entered fastboot was pushing vol down and hiting power and when you see the lg logo i hit power again quickly it even gives you a guide on how to unlock the bootloader idk it all seems weird to me but its cool tho now im just waiting for a cwm witch woud be amazing but since i got the bootloader unlocked can i flash super su zip with out risk of brick? i would really love some feed back on this sorry if its a little long lol

SRSRoot.com 's Twitter page says on multiple instances that SRSRoot supports LG Stylo 2 Plus LGMS550 for root.. But it does not root my Stylo 2 plus.. has anyone tried and can confirm root?? And maybe post a simple tut on steps to make it work? .. I emailed the Dev and left replies under their Twitter account but no replies yet.

SRSROOT is a big scam they always post that stuff on twitter, they did the same thing with the original zmax and it never worked. Don't put much into that tweet.

bootloader unlocked via fastboot oem unlock
tried to flash latest supersu.zip with adb sideload root.zip(changed name for easier typing)
no dice

get error: cannot read root.zip when i try without opening a term in my downloads folder
get error: closed when i open term from my donwloads folder

if anyone can make a recovery i'll try to boot into it via fastboot(without actually flashing it)

I was playing with fastboot. It appeared to me to be missing the commands to run. Didn't try to flash but I wouldn't try that unless it's tested by something like running without flashing

Flash what? You can't flash SuperSU via fastboot. You can only flash a custom recovery which we do not have.

Do not attempt to flash things in fastboot there is not even a kdz out there to restore this device yet as far as I'm aware.

We can try different tarp with this and see if it works I want to be able to transfer my apps to sd card can't with the new Ron they have 6.0.1 don't work its a bad thing considering u have only 16 g of internal memory if we root we can move the apps to sd card if we can root going to try all of lg roms for all the phones on here I heard from another post that the 775 would work twrp not sure which phone it is I believe it's the style 2 but I think its Verizon the only one that would work it l8tr today if I can find it

If you use a different twrp I can almost guarantee you'll end up bricked, and with no way to restore because there isn't even a kdz available. You'll just be stuck with a paperweight. Bad idea, but if you want to then go for it.
