LG V 20 is running hot

why is my LG V20 is overheating?

Mine never ran more than a lottle warm, even using it hard while charging. Where is it getting hot? Near the battery? You may be getting close to needing a new battery. In back, above the battery, around the area between the power switch and the camera? That would probably be one of the radios. If you have a weak cell signal or a weak mobile signal, that caused the phone to transmit with more power, causing more heat (and draining more battery).
