LG V 20 stopped fast charging!?

Fast charging has been working just fine, but I have had this issue in the past, but it always just seems to fix itself over time (few months)

We have a camper we go to off and on during the warm months. Fast charging doesn't work when I charge my phone in the camper, which is fine I'm sure it is due to a camper being wired up and the power being different than a house. A week ago the fast carding was working just fine. We got back from our camper, and of course my phone is not fast charging. You'd think it'd revert back to fast, just like it does when charging on a vehicle. And I don't know a way around fixing this.

I have already tried a different cable and block, try restarting the phone, removed the battery and held down power button for a minute, but still no fast charging.... Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try safe mode see if it works , sometimes going in and out of that mode fixes things.

Since it sounds like you covered the usual suspects, I would next try to clean out the USB port. Remove the battery first to prevent any short circuits. Then use something like a toothpick or a small q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol. A shot of compressed air could also blow out some debris.

If that doesn't work, does the cable feel loose in the port? If so, or if wiggling it in the port affects the charging status, then it means the port itself is bad and needs replacing.

If that isn't it, there's a slight chance the battery itself is too far gone. Is it puffed up any or the battery cover hard to latch? If you spin it on a flat surface, does the battery stop immediately or spin almost like a top (and try this on both sides)? If it continues to spin, then it's damaged and should be replaced. The down side here is that any "new" battery you buy to replace it is going to be old stock and already degraded somewhat.

If none of that works, then it would need a repair shop for evaluation. Because this is almost a 4 year old phone, it's not likely worth the cost to repair it. If you get to this point, I would suggest skipping the shop and either deal with it, or replace the phone. I use to own a V20 and I think it was the best phone made so far, so I could understand if you aren't keen on replacing it, but all good things must come to an end at some point.

Nothing appears to be lose, and the port seems clean. The battery is actually new so I know it's not that. As I said it only does it when charging on our camper, then doesn't revert back... It's done it before, but always over time fixes itself.

I love my phone and I'll deal with if need be, fast charging is just way better.

The battery may be new in the sense that it hasn't been used before, but it's old stock at this point because it hasn't been actual produced for years. Batteries deteriorate over time, even if they are sitting on a warehouse shelf.

The charging in a camper shouldn't be affecting it, though. Are you using a built in USB port or dedicated adapter? Are you running off shore power or batteries? Are you using the same power supply as in your home or other vehicles, or is it one dedicated to the camper only?

With all due respect, you don't have a phone charger problem, you have a camper problem. |wink| I'm not fortunate to have that problem, though I do have two extra batteries, and changing the battery has always given me the fastest re-charge. Hope you resolve this interesting issue.

So are you basically running it off a normal 120volt AC supply or is it coming off an invertor?

Well a bit of an update. 2 days ago my phone started fast charging again, all on its own. With the same cable and cube I have been using when it was normal charging. Still not entirely sure what causes this issue to arise.

As far as I know. A big portion of the power (including AC appliances, outlets etc) is coming from the campers inverter. I believe only a portion of the camper is run off whatever other form of power. I would honestly have to ask my hubby to he sure... Cause I know we get an electric bill at the campground it is set up in, I am just not 100% sure what ALL exactly runs off it. But I am certs in it has its own invertor, cause we had to replace it 2 years ago.

Well a bit of an update. 2 days ago my phone started fast charging again, all on its own. With the same cable and cube I have been using when it was normal charging. Still not entirely sure what causes this issue to arise.

I've had that exact same experience. It started charging very slowly then went back to normal.

it was charging so slowly that it could not charge it full overnight. I cleaned everything.

Now mind you, I like slow charging as it is easier on the battery. I do not like fast charging. However when I plug it in at midnight, I expect it to be 100% at 8AM, not 68%.
