Please someone help me. My fingerprint scanner stopped working completely. It was working like a charm a day before but now its not working at all. I've tried everything. Hard reset the phone. No cover on my phone so thats not the issue. I cant even delete my fingerprints so i resetted the phone. Now im trying to add new finger print its not reading my fingerprint. Can anyone help me out please? :( :'(. I cant return it to carrier. My version is international and i have no warranty as its not available in my country :(. It just means fingerprint scanner gone for good. :/. I became lg's fan from lg g2. Now i have lg g4 and v10. Sad to see this kind of stupid things happening.

Sorry to say it is happening more often.... Sometimes with Mm update seams to fry the weak ones... The bad news..... It's dead for good. The good news... Take it in to your carrier and they'll send you a new one.... Via factory defect.

Can you provide where you got this information? I see where some are having issues with the FPS after the update. But in most cases like this there are a few things that can be done to resolve it.

1) Hard reset - Which OP said they already did. BUT did they also restore from back up? This can sometimes cause problems if something was corrupt in the back up. If this is the case then I would suggest that the OP do another hard rest and not restore from backup. Test the FPS again and see there is still an issue.

2) Delete all partition cache. This can also cause problems after a major update and does not get cleared out during the update. Suggest clearing this to see if issue corrects itself.

3) Delete all FP data and re-register. I have had to re-scan my FP data to to correct and resolve unreliable scans. (Not related to the FPS/Case issue.)

I did hard reset and haven't use the backup. Right now after i read ur comment i reset my phone again. Its not working. It just ask me to place my finger on Power key. Its not even reading my finger at all. when i press the power button it ask me not to press the button just put my finger there. But not reading my finger. I've done everything. Its not working :(

What condition are your finger prints? I have found if my hands are callous, or my fingers are worn a bit from use the FPS will not read consistently as my fingerprints recover and my body rebuilds itself. I went on an underground cave expedition once and my prints had worn smooth from 3-4 hours tunneling and crawling around in the mud. For the ~2.5 weeks my FPS would not recognize my prints, because my body was in a constant enough state of recovery. Then all of a sudden on the ~3rd week, the FPS started working on its own.

My wife has found the same thing with her iPhone 6S+. She's a dentist and is ALWAYS washing her hands. Sometimes the surgical gloves can alter the characteristics of her prints enough to throw off her FPS.

Now im going to sell my phone pay 100$ more to buy Samsung Galaxy Note5. v10 was love. But Battery timing wasnt good. Still I loved v10. But after FPS crash I just HATE lg now. :\

Bro there is a difference between not recognizing and not working at all. Its not working at all. Not with my finger prints not with my sister's finger prints. No one's. It just doesnt read a finger touching the button at all. My english is weak i know sorry for that.

When your hard reset your phone it will erase your fingerprint info. You didn't specifically say you did so I am assuming you did. Just for sanity, did you re-register your fingerprints in the security settings?
