Last night I lost my brick for my LG V10 charger. So before I went to bed last night, I used the same cord but plugged it into a brick for an iphone/ipad. I woke up this morning with the high temperature notification on my screen, phone was almost too hot to touch, and after all that it only charged to 72%. Since then, the high temperature notification only faded to be really dim, rather than going away. Its almost unnoticeable except for when I use the camera. Snapchat was open at the time and the notification also shows the name of the person I had snapchatted earlier almost as if it screenshotted the recipients part.
Thanks for the help.

Edit: It actually looks like it took a screenshot of my snapchat contacts with the temperature notification. It's all super dim and only really visible when in certain apps and very noticeable when in the camera/snapchat. I've also tried restarting/powering off multiple times as well as closing all the apps.

If you take a screenshot of your phone, does it show up in the image? If not (and I'm guessing it won't), probably the notification was there for too long and now you've got a bit of screen burn-in? You can try cycling a bunch of colors (maybe playing a video for a couple hours) and see if it goes away if that's the case.

If it shows up over on a screenshot, then it's software-related.

LCD panels don't burn in, but they can suffer a similar phenomenon known as image persistence/retention with the difference being it's very rarely permanent unlike burn in on OLED panels. This issue is present on nearly every smartphone out there using an LCD panel but the G4, the V10 and the G5 seem to be the most susceptible to it considering the Quantum Display tech LG uses. As far as I know, this can be fixed by leaving the display off for an extended period of time. That should remove any retention though if it's there's already, it's a sign that it will come back at some point, if not immediately right after using your phone for a few minutes.
