LG V20 and Removable Batteries

Unless you're using a low-quality knock-off charger, this is not even remotely true. Your battery will charge as expected whether or not you use the device. Think about it this way. With smartphones, chances are the only way there is no syncing of data is if the phone is off. So even when you aren't literally using your phone, your phone is using your phone and data is being synced. So go ahead and use that phone while it charges.

My Galaxy S6 used to get hot to the touch (thanks to quick charge 2.0 and micro USB). Phone was too hot to use while charging. Trying playing a graphic intensive game and the phone might just melt. Was using original Samsung charger.

Hmm might as well not use a case or screen protector.

Why? Selling a broken screen is much harder then a battery that may have lost a little bit of life.

I get you're trying to justify removable as the above all be all but sadly... that isn't the case for everyone.

Some people like removable batteries, some don't, that's okay. I'm just pointing out the pros of having one vs. not having one. Seems like there's more pros of having one than not.

The title of the post really explains it all: "I'm the only guy that still likes removable batteries..."

Na you aren't -- go look at the people in the Note 4 area as they holdout because the Note 4 was the last with removable :).

Most of the V20 owners like removable batteries 8-)
Because it's the one flagship that still features a removable battery.

So those who want that feature don't have a lot of choice left. Also helps that the V20 is kind of a productivity monster.

Why someone bought the V20 wasn't the wasn't the point of my comment. It was in contrast to the OP indicating he's the only one who likes removable batteries. I'm saying he's not.

I am NOT a clumsy cell phone owner. I will always demand a removable battery to the very end which is coming too soon. I could care less about waterproof phones. I do not talk on the phone while in the bathroom or near a pool. Non removable battery phones puts the phone manufacture in charge of your own investment. When it is sure to die within a smaller time frame than today's electronics. When lithium Ion battery's take a dump in a "non removable" battery phone....What happens? You get frustrated and get another phone If it is a battery only issue....You can buy another phone battery off Ebay or other and the phone may last a longer life while hurting the BIG companies another sale
Just my honest opinion here.
It is all about money here people.

I'm on my phone 24/7. Always connect via social media and playing music or navigating. The demand increases overtime as you require more power. I'm a pretty heavy user and the battery goes down to 15% by 5-6PM.

If there's no need to upgrade, then there's no need to buy new phone. So many people are still using the S5 and Note 4, proves that people still love it dearly. But software updates are slowing down devices on purpose to force user to purchase a new device. And yes, having not removable battery phones mean an expiration date of 1-2 years. Perfectly good phone, just weak battery, and slower performance because of the software update. You gotta think of it in business terms.

The average American probably doesn't know what a "removable battery" is anymore. They just need a phone that works and will buy a new phone when their screen is broken. I don't want Android to become a very "basic" phone like the iPhone with all the features removed to make it simpler. A removable battery isn't complicated. I bet a 3 year old could swap batteries. I wish people could understand how cheap, fast, and effective it is, but I guess the V20 is the last of it (crossing fingers for removable batteries on V30! Just don't make it like the G5).

I've never experienced battery deterioration to the point I'd replace it so it doesn't bother me too much. What did used to be useful though was the ability to buy a couple and bring one as a backup.

You are definitely not alone. I demand it, along with expandable storage (that is, MicroSD compatibility), a headphone jack (yes, Bluetooth has its benefits... also has enough drawbacks that having a wired headphone option is a must for me), and the option to choose between wireless and wired charging. It genuinely angers me that we're moving away from these things when there's no damn need to (other than money, obviously).

I'm currently on the search for a new phone to replace my LG G4 because the lag on the phone has gotten beyond frustrating (I can't, for example, sync my Garmin watch with the app over the Bluetooth... it just refuses to connect, no matter what I do). I may go with the V20, or the Galaxy S7. But I demand the things I mentioned in my previous paragraph.

Waterproofing doesn't mean much to me as I don't use my phone in the shower, and I don't swim (I avoid oceans and don't really do pools, either). And when I am in contact with liquid besides the shower or for drinking (like cooking, or my job at Teavana), my phone is either away or otherwise not near the source of the liquid.

Give me a removable battery, expandable storage, a headphone jack, and wired charging, and I'm happy. Take those away and I'll find another phone.

Battery charge speed: V20 vs S8 Plus

Speed of battery charge: V20 (10 seconds) vs S8 Plus (1 hr & 30 min). Not too fair since the S8 Plus has a 300 mAh bigger battery. S8 has a much better camera however.

Re: Battery charge speed: V20 vs S8 Plus

Swapping a battery isn't charging a battery, still takes time to charge the dead battery so you can swap it again.

I admit I prefer user replaceable batteries, but I haven't carried a spare or needed to swap them since 2012. My phone usually lasts over 24 hours, and between the charger at my desk and in my car, it's easy to keep it fully charged.

True that you have to charge the spare but the time factor for charging on the spare is irrelevant.
I only swap when I'm not near a charging source for extended periods. I also sometimes use an extended battery. One of them is double and I have tripple battery.
It's nice to have options.
