LG V20 cant find backup from other LG v2 on google drive

I have a dying LG V20. I have backed it up to google drive
In my new(er) LG V20 I log onto my google account, I go to Settings->General->System->Backup
LG Mobile Backup & restore->restore reports no backups on google drive
Google Backup finds a backup on Google drive but only allows me to create a backup.
So how can I restore to the new(er) V20 from the old V20 backup?

Can you clarify -- are you trying to use LG Backup or Google Backup? They're not the same thing.

The only time I've done this is to use the LG Mobile Switch option, saving the backup file to the SD card. Loading on the new phone worked flawless. It has USB tethering and wireless transfer options as well.

If you are still able to use the old phone, I'd try that instead of the Google Drive backup.
