LG V20 hardwired to home stereo

I recently switched from an HTC One M9 to the LG V20. I used to play my music hard wired from the headphone jack on the HTC to my amplifiers RCA CD inputs and it sounded awesome on my low impedance Klipcsh speakers. Now using the same set up but using the V20 as a source, I've lost a lot of volume. I turn on/up the quad DAC but it still doesn't come close to the output of the HTC. Is this just the nature of the V20? Can I use a preamp in between the V20 and my receiver?
