LG V30 Releases 9/21 in South Korea, rest of the world "soon", in SK it's $839

I would not be surprised to see a $599 sale within the first 60 days

I love LG phones but this is true, Samsung and Apple force the price drop of Lg phones after a few months. I'd say wait until dec or Jan to get the V30.

The G6 price is super low now already

They will do what they have to do to sell numbers. If it is selling well it won't drop as quickly.

Not something I will complain about. Price drops are a good thing.

On a personal level true, for LG no.
That means that aren't selling if they drop.

True, but I can't worry about that. Besides, people are getting good deals on the S8/S8 plus, and those phones were supposed hits.

In this day and age of the $800+ phone, people are simply going to wait for deals. Smartphone makers have to know that.

I was just making the point that they need to sell well. If LG and others don't sell to the point where they stop making phones is not a good thing. I don't want to pay a lot for my phones either. We are now seeing the so called flagships selling for 1000.

I'm wondering about V30 availability when it is released.

LG is making the Pixel 2 XL, and I've read a few times they are using the same oled panels as the V30 (or similar). I wonder if LG is able to ramp up production enough to meet demand for the V30 and new Pixel at the same time on their new mobile oled tech, and if not, what this will do for availability of both devices.

Well they're only gonna make like 100 Pixels so they can artificially inflate the demand cause that's just Google's thing. I think the V30 will have good availability because LG actually wants to sell their devices.

This is obviously false.

Well clearly I'm exaggerating lol. However, Google ALWAYS has supply issues with their devices, so either they're dumb or they like the fact that it makes seem that demand is really high. Either way, it's always an issue. I think the V30 will have good availability. The Pixel? Not so much.

Being dumb and keeping stock artificially low are not the only possible reasons. They're not even realistically plausible reasons.

Here's two others:

Putting all their eggs in the HTC assembly line basket was a mistake.

Putting all their eggs in the Samsung display panel basket was a mistake.

You'll note they're using two factory partners and two display manufacturers this year.

Well if you make the same mistakes every single year, you're dumb. Tell me one phone release that Google has gotten right as far as supply goes? Every single blog post even mentions how their devices are rarely ever in stock and they even talk about on the podcast how Google always has supply issues. Either they're doing it on purpose, or they're incompetent. You can defend them all you want, but the fact of the matter is, they're terrible at launching phones.
