LG V40 announcement

I do like wireless charging so I like plastic best. Plastic can look really nice but like most I use a case anyway

I do like plastic as well. I don't really think I have a "material" preference when it comes to phones. I've never used a phone with wireless charging before - so I think that would be cool to do.

Come on now. You can't put a case in a plastic phone.
Every phone has some plastic. What harm a case on a plastic phone? My current phone has a metal back and doesn't even NEED a case but I like the feel of the plastic case.

Glass is heavier and more fragile than plastic. It costs more to replace and is a fingerprint magnet. I see zero advantage to glass.

Lol I hear ya. I only use cases on phones I don't care about or poorly designed ironically. If the design team did a great job on the design I fell like it's a disservice to cover it up unless it's a clear case that's thin and not bulky.

Dang. Reviews are mediocre and at this >$900 price range you have to be on point (or as close as possible to other highly priced flagships).

My issues are the picture quality from the camera and Android 8 (not 9) being loaded on the phone. Software is a weakpoint with LG and those two complaints of mine fit right in line with software.

You don't have to worry about the picture quality. LG's done a great job this year in auto which is their weak point.

Totally on the fence with the V40. a $900.00 price tag is a buzz kill for me. Since cameras on a phone are not a big deal for me, it doesn't seem to offer anything that dramatic over my V20. I like the way the phone looks, the big screen is a benefit for my aging eyes, lighter is cool (at the expense of battery life). Also, 64gb internal storage on the base model?

Just don't know......I'll probably wait for the inevitable LG price drop.

Yeah the price is a big consideration especially if the Pixel 3 is more affordable which I'm almost certain the smaller one will be. Also the phone is freaking huge although not as heavy as the Note 9.

People will dispute it but LG is a step down fron Samsung or Apple. The base phone is a little cheaper than Note 9 but the Note comes with sPen and 128gb standard so there is no savings going to Lg. The Samsung and especially the Apple will have a higher resale value and be easier to sell. The DAC is the only big advantage I see. At $700 this would be a nice deal. LG should have waited for Android 9.

Well I would be one to dispute it. LG just makes phones for a different group of people. They may not be the cool kids on the block and have the advertising draw that Apple and Samsung have but to me they're to to toe with the competition. Price wise though I think LG should have been a little more realistic with the reality that they simply can't do what the other guys do. They just don't have the fan base but LG's focus on camera interaction and sound puts them ahead in ways Apple or Samsung may never bother to reach. I think the fact the Samsung is still the only OEM making an S Pen flagship device(LG has the Stylo) is pretty telling about how popular that feature is. Samsung just has the draw and Apple keeps taking features and in the box accessories away while charging more and more so there's that. To me though LG is only slightly behind the top players. I just hope they continue making positive strides.

Same for me. Phones have so many different features. This company or that company won't satisfy them all.

LG just just hits more ✓ marks for me thus making it the better phone for me.

The more I review online information about the V40 and other flagships that are currently available the more I believe that battery life is going to be the Achilles Heal of this phone. The battery life on my V20 is acceptable (not great) most of the time, however, there are times when it is truly horrible. The V40's battery capacity (and all variations of the V30) is the same as my V20, 3300 mAh. I have yet to see a review that has rated the battery life as more than acceptable.

I'll wait and see what other reviews indicate but I don't want to spend $900.00 USD on a phone and have to worry about batter life.

i will never understand why lg insists on going with smaller batteries. SoT is really important for those of us that need to use our phones 4 to 7 hours a day.

I wouldn't worry about four hours+. Seven hours? Not remotely.

4-7 hrs sot is no problem with my V30. We'll have to see with the V40.
