LG, what happened to monthly security updates?

I am disappointed with the lack of security patches being issued by LG for the international versions of the G4 since September. After the big announcements of monthly security updates over the summer, LG simply hasn't followed through.

The last patch for the H815 was released in September; since then, Google has issued two security patches, one on Oct 5 and most recently on Nov 2, but none of these have made it to the H815, at least in the region of the world I am in (Europe).

In mid-October, LG started making noises about their efforts to release Marshmallow, but that hasn't materalized so far. While moving the G4 to the next major version of Android is nice, it is decidedly less urgent than keeping on top of sec vulnerabilities, as far as I am concerned. I'd rather have LG keep their promise to stay on top of the security patch situation than to drop the ball until they get Marshmallow out the door.

Perhaps LG needs to learn to walk and chew gum at the same time.

Are you using the LG Bridge to look for updates? I got an update a few weeks ago using that application. Not sure what the update consisted of since there was no change log available but it was a pretty big update. I have the SEA software version.

I don't use Bridge, OTA updates only. That shouldn't make a difference though, unless there's something seriously wrong with their update process. LG has divided their updates for the international versions of the G4 into a number of regions, and separate patches are being released for each (I hope there are *good* reasons for that complexity and it is necessary to do it this way).

From June to September, there was a string of monthly updates in the EUR region. XDA usually has folks from every region piping up whenever an update arrives, but nothing for EUR since early September. The September patch included the early August patches from Google ('stagefright 1'), and the missing October and November patches should have included the Sept and Oct patches from Google respectively. As I noted above, Marshmallow has been patched again at the beginning of November, and that should be showing up in some early in December, if LG was continuing their patch cadence.

Update: LG has now released Marshmallow 6.0 (version V20a-EUR-XX, build number MRA58K) in various EMEA markets via Bridge. The update is tagged with 25.11.2015 as the release date and has the November security patch level. The update went smooth and brings the G4 up to date with the current security patches from Google! I hope they keep it that way from now on.
