I'm having problems with my lgv20 and my account with metro by T-Mobile. When I go to the store and hook into their Wi-Fi I can make calls but not receive them but when I hook into my wifi at home I can't place or receive calls. Is there a way to capture what settings I have in my home wifi and compare them with those to the store? Like a data dump and how to open it once I get it? Thank you for your time.

It may still be worth upgrading to a newer router. In some other threads I've seen about wi-fi calling issues, replacing the router seemed to do the trick.

Yes, I know. I wish I could have all the latest toys but I'm on a limited income...anyway thank for reading and helping me the best way you know how. I really appreciate it.

You might consider checking your local thrift store (like Goodwill) for a cheap router. I've seen some in my area that seemed reasonably modern at a good price.

Sorry I'm only on some nights, and it looks like I missed some good exchanges. Anyway, Have you factory reset your phone since this started? It reads as though all of this started after one of your resets. If this is the case, let's see if we can get away with fixing before replacement.

If this is related to the factory reset, let's try to clear the partition cache. This is where temp data is stored for OS updates and patches. Things can get, stuck, for lack of a better word, here and cause bugs or issues. Factory resetting should clear this, but sometimes things don't clear the way they should, which I'm sure you know.

Steps to Clear Partition Cache (Recovery Mode)
  1. Turn off your LG V20 completely.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Down and Power buttons simultaneously.
  3. When the LG logo appears, release only the Power button for a second, then hold it down again (while still holding Volume Down).
  4. Release both buttons when the system recovery screen appears.
  5. Use the Volume Down button to highlight Wipe cache partition.
  6. Press the Power button to confirm.
  7. Once the process is complete, select Reboot system now.
Test, did this help? Did anything change?

I didn't fully reread every post, but next let's clear the cache for WiFi. This isn't as straight forward because there isn't one specific wifi app. LG is supposed to have a cache clearing feature in the settings menu so let's try that first.

Clear All Cached Data (Settings)
You can clear cached data for all apps:

  • Go to Settings > Storage > Internal Storage.
  • Tap Cached data and select OK to clear.
  • Restart phone.
Test, did this help? Did anything change?

If neither of these helped, and you haven't factory reset since this started, you may be left with no choice other than trying a factory reset again. I might try it even if there was a reset between this and the last reset, because factory reset should get you back to zero where everything that should works and is all fresh and new.

Let me know what you find.

@B. Diddy LG and Pixel? I asked Google and that was it's reply. It's an older device (2016) so maybe it's grandfathered in. 🤷‍♂️ If not Google said the second method, from the settings menu, was an alternative to using the bootloader method.

Yeah, the problem with Google's AI search is that the answer that seems so confidently reported by the AI often references a source for a completely different device. I do recall in the past when more people had LG phones (and also when wiping the cache partition was more of a thing) that LG phones could never do it due to restrictions on the LG firmware. You're correct that PIxels also don't have a cache partition to wipe -- it was basically abandoned when they went to dual A/B partitions. Samsung has been one of the main holdouts, but even they are starting to transition to dual A/B partitions without the ability to wipe the cache partition.
