Android Central Question

I have just installed a number of Lifx smart lights and a TP Link HS100 smart switch in my home. All are installed and working correctly, including by asking Google Assistant to control the devices from my Note 10+. My Wife's Galaxy s9 is set up the same way, including with her as a member of our home, however she is unable to tell Google to control any of the devices with her voice. When she attempts to do so, assistant does a Google search instead.

There is a further inconsistency. When I ask Google Assistant on my Note 10+ to 'sync devices' it does as requested. When we give the same command on my wife's s9, it does a Google search instead.

I have tried running the devices from her own account in Kasa and Lifx apps and also by logging into my own account (the one that works on my Note 10+) for the apps. The bulbs and smart switches all work from within the Kasa and Lifx apps, and also by manually opening Home on the s9 and touching the control that I want to use. The only problem is with using the Google Assistant ('hey Google') on the s9.

Other functions for the Google Assistant on the S9 (e.g asking Google what time it is in Sydney, or set a countdown timer for 2mins) seem to be working fine,it just won't control the smart devices.

I have been through the Google Assistant settings on the s9 and can't find anything obvious. I have reinstalled Google Assistant and each of the smart device apps as well as removing and adding all of the smart devices, but nothing helps. The s9 is running the latest version of all software.

Please help because keeping my wife enthused with smart devices does not last long, particularly when it doesn't work properly for her.

On the s9 go into google assistant settings and see anything you can toggle on like home ..

Did you ensure the smart things are connected to her Google account as well? If not then her account can't control them.

Sounds like, for some reason, the main account (you) has control of these devices but not the secondary accounts (you wife's). I would try logging into your wife's account on your Note 10. If this is the reason, then you will still see the same 'issue' on your Note since it's now on her account (or viceversa, log into your account on hers and then it should work).

Like Almeuit said, maybe you need to grant control or add the devices to her account as well. I've only used these with smart speakers so anyone can control the devices from there, but that's using my account.
