this phones signal strength and battery pale in comparison to the maxx. sad, i love everything else about it.

Wow, what a crazy concept. A 3300mAh battery is better then a 2100mAh battery. Who would have thought.

no iwould not get S3, sent it back. no question signal trumps coolness. i will more than patiently wait for the Maxx HD

allot of people actually! reviews, peoples feedback, etc. the new 28nm chip. blah blah blah. i will never understand how since the maxx came out that any smartphone manufacturer would not include bigger batteries. i think a pole should be conducted as to iff someone would give up a millimeter or two for maxx battery life. im pretty sure we all know what the answer would be. it was vzw number one selling phone for a while, maybe still is.

but battery aside........ the radios DO NOT COMPARE, period, end of story. They might get the smae reading sitting in good signal strength area, but introduce movement and mountains and boom goes the dynamite!! the maxx is FAR SUPERIOR. i live in a hostile mountainous area of WNC. the maxx is the best radio i have used in the 8 years i have lived here. i have signal in places i have never had before, ever! i can also keep a phone call continuously between particular areas where as before i could pinpoint location i would drop call.

while i dont doubt what edizzle is saying I have not noticed hardly any difference in the signal abilities between the two . i have owned the maxx and the standard razr and used both for a good amount of time and in my use cannot say the signal is that much better in the Maxx . i travel into and out of poor signal areas everyday with my s3 and cant really tell a difference between the two .

A friend of mine has the Maxx, I now have the sgs3 and I am coming from the Rezound.

The Rezound has the best of the three as far as signal. My Second sgs3 is second followed closely by the Maxx.

This is what it is like in my area, good signal all the way around.

The first sgs3 I had was horrible for signal

i think the unforgiving mountainous terrain is a killer of marginal radios. i think the constant switching between 1x, 3g, and 4g radios. also, the first two days i had it, each day the phone became VERY hot. almost to hot touch. is this a problem being reported by anyone?

also, the Rezound???? are you kidding me? i had that phone for all of 2 days! reception doesnt compare to Maxx.

my wifes rezound has been the equal of both the razrs that i had . i wouldnt be so quick to discount the s3 or any phone for that matter until i tried it for myself . if anybody had told me that my s3 would have performed anywhere near as good as it has i would have called bs . but after this i will always try it for myself from now on .

It must be your area, I had, so if you go to the Rezound forums many others to, great reception. Poor signal will also cause the heat issue. The radios will be constantly working

i would agree with you who are stating you have equal to or close to the same signal. i saw that with friends s3 side by side to my maxx while sitting still in good coverage area. (although they both bounced around a bit while we sat and ate, both taking turns being better, the Maxx definitely took the win for having a better signal most of the time). the issue is once you start moving and signal starts to weaken, the maxx ABSOLUTELY outperforms the S3. This also allows the Maxx to not search for a signal as much. There are distinct locations on specific routes i drive were you will lose signal on almost any other "popular phone". For instance there is a 2 mile stretch between my home and town that kills the signal on every other phone i have owned starting back with a treo650, multiple BBs, Droid, Incredible, Incredible 2, Rezound, GNex, S3 and phones of friends and family. The Maxx will hold a call straight through. On a bad day i could possibly get a garble or quick dropout, but not lose it. the nexus had bad signal too, but not as bad in my opinion.

the first time it got hot, it was downloading probably 200 apps the day i got it. i reasoned it to all of the downloading. the second time was stationary in my truck in front of clients house. the heat was not from cab or sun. it was cool day 60-65 overcast, no sun. my truck was parked in a known bad signal area, i mean bad. i dont think i could get a solid signal there with my maxx. it bounces from no signal to 1x, quick blip of 3g, no 4g, etc. my maxx has been in that spot for hours no heat. s3 got VERY hot, I mean hot enough to be of concern in an hour. i pulled battery. i say this as i believed, even more so now, the heat was from radios working hard. which furthers my belief that the MAXX has a far superior radios.

if the maxx hd has comparable radio design/quality, it will be my next phone.

The s3 outperforms the maxx hands down for me. More consistent and reliable signal. No drops. BETTER signal overall.

i felt i needed to clarify. the S3 was sick!!! i loved everything about it, other than radio first and battery life second, it was awesome. i also loved the nexus, but same thing. i kept the nexus for a long time. not sure exactly how long, but from day of release till Maxx which was probably 2-3 months ago. the reason it is so apparent to me now is that the Nexus was only slightly less effective as previous phones. it was not as far as drop from my previous phones. when i got the maxx i was simply blown away and didnt realize that anything had been out like this that would give me better more reliable signal. even getting signal where i had never before. drastic difference. it has literally changed my communications life. where i live it is common to see people pulled off of road on phone finishing a call before they get to where they know they will lose it. no more of that for me!! i am on phone all day long it has been wonderful. now dont get me wrong i still have dead spots and lose signal for miles at a time, but where i spend most of my time it has been great.

one thing i do know is i believe across the board most of the reading i have done on multiple forums, sites, blogs, is that Motorola has best in class radios. i am a firm believer. i can confirm the OG Droid did not have this exceptional design, it was actually decent but not standout. i wish i had tried X or X2. i actually would have if they had not been so ugly. also, i was caught up in the whole unlocked BL and Root thing as well. i would never let that effect my purchase decision again. i want a phone that freaking performs good and is as close to stock android as possible. i dont mind the minor modifications blur does, most are welcome, like a way better dialer than stock. there are apps for everything else. i could give two ishes about OCing, ROMing or anything like that anymore, it is very time consuming and yields little if anything. but, that is a whole other subject.
