Limited Bluetooth functionality in car vs HTC One M8

My car used to display contacts and call logs from my previous device, the HTC One M8. I just started using my new 6P, which I love, but the functionality is significantly limited. Almost none of the controls in my car work for the 6P, and none of the above-mentioned info loads. I've checked and the setting is enabled to allow the transfer of contacts, etc. So basically all I can do is place a call FROM my phone (not from my car's screen/steering wheel) and it'll use Bluetooth. I can also hang up a phone call from my nav screen, but not the steering wheel. I know there are several threads about bluetooth connectivity, but I don't think my issue has specifically been addressed. The connection is actually fine; it's just the functionality that is at issue here. I was surprised considering I'm on a much newer device now. Does anyone have insight here? Is this most likely an issue with my car, my phone, or both? Are there any known fixes? Thank you in advance!! :)

Hmm, this is strange.

I came from an M8 as well. I have a 2014 Corolla LE for what it's worth. I've had no bluetooth issues with my 6P, though I did have some with my M8.

I'm not sure if you've tried this or not yet, but maybe you can delete the connection (both on the car and on the phone) and then re-pair it, if you haven't done that already. Make sure you add it to your trusted devices as well so that it can keep the phone unlocked (and pull all the contact info without issue - the phone hides that info if the phone is locked).

I deleted the connection from my car, but I don't remember doing the same on my phone...thanks for that tip! As for the trusted device addition, I did that when I re-paired my phone after deleting but that didn't seem to make a difference. I have a 2011 Hyundai Sonata Limited, so perhaps the technology isn't as compatible with my newer phone? Anyway, I'll try what you suggested and hopefully that'll help. Thanks again!

Is there not a specific app in the Play Store for your head unit which may give you what you need??

I had an M7 before. One thing I have noticed is the 6P is a lot slower to pair with my Parrot bluetooth.
With the M7 i could dial a call as I started the engine and it would generally connect before the call was answered.
The 6p is much slower.

Not that I'm aware of. I searched the Play Store for anything that looked relevant but no luck. Everything I saw seemed completely redundant to the normal bluetooth connection process. That said, if you (or anyone on this thread) is aware of an app I missed, please share!

Good to know...yeah, it definitely seems like there have been a ton of issues with the 6P's bluetooth connectivity. I need to try completely deleting my device from the car and vice versa, then re-pairing. Otherwise I'm not sure how else to fix this.
