LineageOS Compatible with Project Fi?

I still use an aging Nexus 6, with Android 7.0. Google won't be updating it to Android 8.

Thinking about installing LineageOS to make it more current.

But will the phone still work with Project Fi once it has a not-fully-Google OS on it? Any "gotcha's" I should look out for if I try it?

Mostly just look for a ROM that claims to work with Fi. I have a LOS-based ROM called Dark ROM on my old N6, and I've never had a problem using it on Fi. Your best bet is to check ROM threads on XDA developers looking for comments about Project Fi. Developers sometimes explicitly mention Fi in their opening posts about installation and Gapps packages.
