Lines on screen and backup for repair.

Hi,

I have an unlocked Galaxy SII which has some random lines accross the screen .

These can only be seen on a white or light screen and show as vertical ( in portrait) dark lines across my screen.

Samsung are sending me return info to enable repair and have asked me to remove SIM / battery / etc which I will do but wondered if this a known fault for this phone and ask for the best way to save all my info before I send it off.
