Linking contacts

When I factory reset and re-sync some contacts get linked. Like google sticks emily with emmy and then I go to text one and the other gets it. It does it with other conacts too. I have to unlink them. Is there a way to stop this? Its going to get me introuble eventually.

You have to go to the bottom of each contact, open the arrow menu that says "linked profiles" and see who they are linked to, then click the menu button, then click unlink and then select what you want to unlink from.

It sucks.

Are you saying that, when you send a text message to one person, if there's a link, another person also gets it?????

there's no way to turn off the arbitrary linking done by the OS, you have to just go through them and manually unlink the ones that aren't correct.

This could be a major issue, on the level of not being able to delete history of contacts with 2.1.

it will send it to whatever number you chose to send it to.

i haven't used the stock sms app for a while now, but iirc, when you type out a name, it shows the number next to it for you to choose the right one.

ie: "joe blow <mobile: 555-5555>
joe blow <mobile: 555-4444>
joe blow <work: 555-3333>
