This has happened several times on messages with varying degrees of drawing or message.

With or without background images.

What's the point if you can't send them to anyone?

It is usually a limit the carrier puts on file sharing. Use the link sharing Samsung offers, you can send to any make of phone. The receiving side will get a link to view and download if they want to of what you send.

Advantage. Larger files like videos can be sent and it's sent in original form, not compressed. It really is a nice feature Samsung has on their phones, I don't think a lot of people know what it is when they see it there.

EDIT... Just noticed you are talking about the live messages. Only thing I have read on that is if your using a third party messaging app, the app has to support gif. I use textra and it works with that. Sorry about the other stuff, but it's useful info in case some don't know about it.

I had this happen a couple of times as well. I was writing a few words in a Live Message to my daughter, and I couldn't finish writing it before it told me "file too large". It seemed very limiting to me.

Same here. A tiny doodle or a few short words is all that I'm able to do with it. Pretty disappointing, actually.

There is a line that moves across the top of live message. That is the limit of what you can do. The line turns red when you get close to the limit.

I have this issue as well. tried sending a very minimal message and using Textra. Still could not send due to size

I can send a plain live message thru textra, but after reading this posting I've discovered if you do a picture background, textra fails.
