Live wallpaper lag on X but not Fascinate?

I've been messing around with live wallpapers and noticed that they lag up my X but when I watched videos of the Fascinate, there was no lag on the wallpapers. Could it be the GPU on the Fascinate/hummingbird processor? Live wallpapers would also lag up my app drawer so I went back to a static wallpaper.

The Fascinate does have a better GPU than the DX. My gf's Fascinate always outscores me in Neocore by at least 6-8 FPS, and I've noticed that it runs Angry Birds a little bit smoother than my DX.

I tried a test where we both had the Lightning wallpaper from the marketplace running on each phone and even with ADW installed on mine, hers scrolled a little smoother and quicker with the stock launcher.

NOW... if it doesn't have to do with pure graphics, my phone blows hers out of the water

the PowerVR SGX540 is 10 times faster than the PowerVR SGX530 which is what the Droid 1 and Droid X both use.
