Been using this app for years on prior galaxy devices. It’s an old school automation app that triggers events based on the app identifying your proximity to cell tower masts. Since it uses cell towers and not gps location, it uses very little battery power. I use it for one single purpose...to automatically turn my phone’s WiFi on when I get home so that i automatically connect to my home WiFi network...and then shut the phone’s WiFi off when I leave my home area (i.e. when I leave the area the app associates with my home by ceasing to detect that areas cell tower masts).

The simplicity of this app and its reliance on cell masts is why I’ve been using it since I started with android. I need a replacement as it looks like Oreo prevents it from working.

Anyone know of an app they can recommend...that does NOT rely on gps location...but that rather relies on cell masts...that is super easy to use to simply automate the turning on/off of my phone’s wifi?

Appreciate the suggestion. I’ve tried tasker in the past. There isn’t a more user unfriendly app. I feel like you need very advanced programming skills to be able to use it. I’m really just looking for a simple way to do a single task...no other automation needed for me...just looking to have WiFi automatically turn on/off based on phone’s detection of cell towers by my house.

That looks very interesting. Seems to be cell tower based and does the exact thing I’m looking for. Will give it a try. Thanks!

Thanks. I see the screenshot indicating that Automate uses network and GPS. I keep location toggled off 99% of the time, and toggle it on manually only when I need it. That’s the main reason I’m looking this automate WiFi on/off based solely on cell masts. Can automate do that relying solely on cell masts?

Settings, connections, wifi, three dots, advanced, turn on wifi automatically
Try this and maybe it will also turn wifi off when out of range

Yes, using the Cell tower near block.

Macrodroid, macrodroid, macrodroid. Forget Tasker. Unusable by anyone who isn't a coder. Macrodroid has cell tower options.

I also loved Llama, but on my Android 8 phone its not working anymore. I found a very similar app called PhoneProfilerPlus. Try it, its free.
