Loading a new rom

Ok, so I'm new at all of this and I'm ready to erase data and all that jazz to load a new rom on my phone, but a few questions before I actually erase all user data and so forth. I've created a backup and what not, but will I have to add all my contacts if they aren't synced to my google contacts? That question sounds vague, but I'm curious is there a way to back up my address book? Thanks, I'm using a lg optimus v running 2.2 currently. Another thing, anyone have a recommendation of a rom I should try out? I'm using Go Launcher right now as a new home launcher and I'm happy with it. I've downloaded the ICS rom. Thanks for any replies and or help.

Sorry for the late reply but.. You can export your contacts like to file. Look from inside your contacts application usually by hitting Menu you will get to a menu of sorts. Look around for export/import contacts to file/sdcard, etc.. These can then even be opened in Gmail for importing or other various applications like Excel.
