I am looking for a shopping list app for my Android phone that I have so far been unable to find. It seems there are plenty of GROCERY shopping programs, but these are not exactly what I need. I have a set of requirements that so far no app has been able to fulfill. Here is what I need:

  • I need to be able to set up "items" that I want to buy
  • These items need nothing more than a name, a "status", and (optionally) a quantity
  • The item status should just be "needed" or not
  • I want to set up "stores" that I shop at (Home Depot, Target, generic grocery, etc)
  • I want to assign an item to one OR MORE of these stores. For example, I can buy orange juice at the grocery or Target, I can buy light bulbs at Target or Home Depot, only Home Depot sells lumber.
  • Once I have all the items assigned to stores, I can come into the app, look at the items, and click on the item I need, and it shows up in the shopping list for each of the stores where it is available
  • When I go shopping I click on the store I am at and I see the list of items currently marked as "needed"
  • When I click on an item on a store's list while shopping, it is marked "not needed" and removed from the shopping list on all the other stores where it is available (until needed again)

So far I have gone through several apps which come close on a few of these requirements, but don't meet them all. Some discard items every time I purchase them so they have to be re-entered every time I need them. Some can only assign an item to one store. Some only allow one store. Etc. Does anyone know of an Android app available to US customers that comes close to what I want?

I personally am happy with ColorNote from the App store. I was looking for something similar and that was the closest I can find. I just create different colored notes for each store. It does have the ability to check items off... I dont know if you have already tried it or not... if you have my apologies. good luck!

note everything is what i use. it is great because of durable checklist.
i have used the same two checklist, one for groceries and another for other household items, for the past month. i keep both list pinnd to my notification area and set reminders when i notice that i need to shop

I'm sure you looked at OI Shopping list.

I use it for each store and a to do list.

I create a list for each store - Home Depot, grocery, or Target or something similar. It has quantities.

I even use it as a poor man's to-do list. You can also tag the items in the list.

You can select to have the checked off items removed or not as well.

OurGroceries is a great one. It lets you create diff list and share on phones and web browser. Has most of the features you are looking for some what

Color Note was exactly what I was looking for. Simple list I can cross off and rearrange.

AM I old for getting the Sesame Street reference?

No, I also wanted to thank the OP for the flash back to my childhood memories!
That gave me a laugh! i:)i

I use Note Everything Pro myself.

I use ToMarket, which I think will exactly fit your requirements. It is reminiscent of HandyShopper from the old Palm days.

I've found ToMarket to be very customizable. I have actually turned off a bunch of the features because I just want something simple to use, so if you try it out make sure to mess around with the prefs before you decide if it is a fit.

I think ToMarket would fill all those needs also. For sure it does exactly what you are wanting it to in regards to multiple stores. And you can customize exactly what it shows for each item in several ways. I went through several grocery apps also, but now I am content.

Note Everything is what I use as well.
It's great for shopping lists because of its "durable checklists"

Those checklists have three tabs at the top - All, Need and Done.

You enter items you always buy, and face it, we tend to buy the same items over and over at a grocery store. Added items go to the All list. Each item has a checkbox in front of it that toggles between three states, namely the list titles themselves. All - greyed out, Need = normal, Done = a green checkmark. Whatever you add to a "durable" checklist stays there until you intentionally delete it, unlike some apps that delete items (like tasks) once they're completed.

When you're ready to go shopping, you check whatever items you need, they jump to the need tab. Once you've purchased it, you check it again and it moves to the Done list.

Pretty slick and very useful.
You can reset items to any of the three states for the next trip and Note Everything even allows you to "pin" your list to the Taskbar for easy access once you arrive at the store - it'll even keep you screen awake while you shop.

I haven't used a hand scribbled list since I got this app.

Does anyone know where I can get support for this app? I have it, and like it so far, but when I enter items, the cost turns to $0 when I move it to the "need" or "cart" tabs. I want to be able to keep a running total of things I put in the cart, I want the total to save with the item.

Can anyone help? Thanks!
