Question Location is shown correctly on maps without internet connection, yet navigation won't work.

So I tried Google Maps today without an internet connection in my car. It showed a blue dot on my current location and I was able to select the location that I wanted to go to, yet maps didn't want to start navigation. It also showed me the location pin icon in the status bar. How come this didn't work? Do I need to change GPS settings somewhere in my Android system. This device is running Android 12 btw.

This. The routing function operates from their servers, not directly on the phone like a stand alone navigation tool. There's an option in settings to download a map area for offline use, and you can select how large of an area to use. Keep in mind the larger the area, the more storage space it will take up.
