LocationFriendService - Running in bg

When i check out my running services, i see LocationFriendService always starts itself up. Does anyone know what this one is? Is it for google latitude? If my GPS is off, it still runs.. so i'm just wondering if its something i need to switch off or if its not really using any battery/cpu.

I'm having the same problem. It started running when I enabled the friend finder in the Latitude app. I'm since told it to disable Latitude and such but the service still runs.

i've noticed this thing always turns itself on after i force stop it for me too, and im on a droid
