Lock screen notifications with intelligent scan (noob)

Just got my note 9 from an iPhone X. I set up intelligent scan which works insanely fast, probably too fast. Sometimes i just want to look at my notifications on the lock screen or reply from there, but the phone unlocks way too easy.

Am I missing something? Is there to have bio metrics without instantly unlocking the device so I reply from the lock screen?

If you hold the phone at a time, it won't register your scan right away... Only thing i can think of

Turn off intelligent scan and just use the fingerprint? That way it won't be scanning when you turn the screen on? Not really sure what else you can do.

Ha ok cool yea thats what i been doing but it seems so sensitive i gotta hold it at crazy angles. Ill just mess around with it and pick a preference i like.
