Lock screen working, but desktop freezing

[Android Central Question]

I have a Galaxy S8, I dropped it a few weeks ago and the front is broken but it doesn t seem to be the problem. The lockscreen and on display works with gestures perfectly, swiping left right even opening the shortcuts. Once I get inside the phone, seemingly randomly everything freezes up. The notification panel wont open, or I touch the bottom of the screen and it drops down randomly, the desktop icons dont open no matter how long or hard I press on them. I swipe to change desktop screens and my live walpaper changes but not the icons. Weird behavior like this. I have switched from Nova launcher to default home, and still the same problems.

The firmware might be corrupt. It seems less likely to be hardware, since you said it happened before the drop. You could try reinstalling the firmware using Smart Switch: http://www.sammobile.com/forum/showthread.php?t=29914

Tried. But no popup screen was alerted for new software with Smart Watch. I'm pretty sure about the cracked screen not being a problem because I can still see the icon, hear the click, and feel the vibration feedback but the screen just hangs.

I thought Smart Switch could actually let you reinstall the current firmware, not just new updates. If it doesn't, then you could also try using Odin: http://forums.androidcentral.com/am...w-flash-stock-rom-via-odin-new-interface.html
