I'm locked out of my s6 and I have no idea why or what to do,

All three of my registered fingerprints are not recognized.

The backup password and the gmail password isn't working. Gmail works fine on my computer.

I can't unlock using Find My Mobile because it says theres no connection.

I have restarted a couple times but it makes no difference.

My wifi is off. Data is on but I suspect that it has reached the limit i set this morning.

What do I do? I'm so frustrated. I don't want to wipe my phone.

Welcome to Android Central! Are there any Best Buys near you? If it has a Samsung Store in it, bring the phone there and see if they can help you out.

Remove your 2 step verification -- that is why it isn't working on your phone (The google password).

Yes I have one nearby and I'm planning to go in asap.

Is there anything I can do now? I don't want to go in and be pressured into resetting my phone.

I don't have Two-step verification

I don't have Two-step verification

I only notice an issue when I had two step --- without it the Google password worked.

You have to turn off two-step verification on your google account. Do this from a separate device from your phone and then sign in to your google account on the phone to gain access.

I was in the same boat this morning. I was looking for ways to unlock, when even Google did not work. I do have 2-factor authentication enabled on Google. I was ready to turn it off, to allow logon as noted by several folks.

Instead, I read the instructions provided by Google further, and rather than disable 2-factor authentication, I created an "app specific password". I've done that for apps and software, on various devices and machines. Created a new app specific password and simply called it S6 edge (but could be named anything.)

Went back to the S6 and retried the fingerprints, etc., until I got the login via Google prompt. Entered my email, and the new app specific password, and the phone was unlocked immediately. I then went in an changed the "backup password". Rebooted the phone (just because) and tested the fingerprints again. They worked fine, as did the new backup password. Really only took a few minutes...

Hope this helps others. Now I'm wondering what causes the corruption... :(

Nice I had no idea about that fix!

I had the same issue happen to me bout two months after I bought my S6. I was lying in bed trying to unlock my phone with my finger print and it wouldn't take the first time, the second or third and after a 4 it locked me out. I don't know if its a security feature or not. Unfortunately my Google pw didn't work (I wasn't aware of the 2-step issue or the "app password" fix) and I couldnt remember the pw I set up for the phone so I did a hard reset. The 2nd time it happed I was trying to unlock the phone after being in a pool for a few hours and had pruny fingers. 3-4 tries later and it locks my out again (which makes me think it could be a security feature) but I managed to have my backup pw.

Hi ! i've had the similar situation for 2 days. Finally today i got the prompt to unlock with google.. but it has been "checking my account" for about 20 mins... is this normal? shouldnt it be instant? HELP!

I recently got locked out of my phone ... The big problem is I forgot my backup password ... And the wifi was switched off when the phone got locked ... So I cannot log into the google account also to unlock my phone :( ... Don't want to lose any files ... Is there anything I can do ??

You can still login to the Google account via the phone itself. After a certain number of incorrect passwords it will ask for the Google Account.
