Hy guys, is it possible to have my phone protected with a pattern lock but be able to access the camera swiping left as i did with my S3? I was running Jellybam so i was wondering if stock fw allows that! It's so annoying that i need to unlock the phone all the times and then click the camera app.. Even the iPhone has this feature and it's miles behind android! Thanks!

I'm wondering the same thing bro
I wish it atleast had the swipe to pin so I could play around with the floating finger light while still having a passlock on it

I was wondering the same thing too. I don't have a pattern lock on the phone for this very reason. Well that and now I've gotten used to swiping to the right and using the remote control. But I'd be ok without the remote if there was a way to have the pattern lock work with the camera shortcut.

i guess we'll just have to wait for an update... or root the phone... but rooting after a week and installing a custom rom loosing all new features seems quite too much just to have a fast swipe to the camera app...

In the meantime before / if a solution ever comes out you can make the camera a widget to be able to use from the lock screen before the time out hits to make you use the pattern. It's not the same I know but it's all we got right now.

So, how do you do this?

Go to settings/my device/lock screen/

Set screen lock to pattern.

Go back to lock screen settings.

Check multiple widgets, and then turn the shortcuts switch on, then tap on it to set your shortcuts.

It's not working for me either. I'm so annoyed this isn't a function on the phone. I want security and quick access to the camera as there's no time to login when one wants to take a quick fleeting pic. This is standard stuff....there's got to be a way or some update that will take place....i got this phone b/c of the camera power and now to have to leave the phone screen unlocked w/o a password just to use the camera - that's pretty backwards. If anyone has any luck figuring this out, pls let me know

It's not working for me
In the new version of Widgetlocker you can open camera from behind your pattern lock.
The new update of WL incorporates bezel swipes from both left and right sides. Swiping from the left opens app shortcuts, still protected with pass code. But swiping from the right side of the screen opens the camera, you don't have to put in your pass code. You won't have access to your gallery but you can still snap photos.
Give it up to Widgetlocker for listening to people's requests. :D

I could be wrong, but doesn't GO Locker allow for this?

This missing feature on my Samsung galaxy s4 is probably the most annoying thing that should be included but isn't, but I've sort of found a way around it though. It's not necessarily having a pattern or pin lock screen and having a camera short cut but it works pretty well for me.
What I did is I disabled the pattern lock on my phone and just had the swipe so I could access all my favourite apps when you swipe right, but then I installed App Lock and password protected all my most precious apps that I wouldn't want people seeing. So all the apps on my favourites but not the camera basically. This app works from the lock screen, and it also works for when you go on the camera and you can password the Gallery so it's literally just the camera that can be used with no access if someone's tried to sneak a peek at your photos.
This is the best I could figure out without having to get an app which creates a lock screen for you and ends up being glitchy or not working half the time.
