Question for those using lollipop. Does the OS come with a built-in video calling feature within the phone app?

Verizon offers it, but it is almost useless because it only works between two Verizon customers who must both have the feature turned ON in their Service Plan.

I have almost 500 contacts and no one else has the feature. I disabled it almost immediately after Verizon "upgraded my phone" with it. It caused me more trouble than I was willing to put up with.

When that "Feature" is enabled, the phone will drop your calls when you leave a service area that supports the feature to a cell site that does NOT support the feature. That is totally unacceptable for me so it got the Deep Six the same day I tried it out. Guaranteed call drops within a few hundred feet of crossing that imaginary boundary between cell sites. No thanks...

I enabled it last night on my husband's and my phone. When I try to use it to call him, I get the message "David can't receive video messages at this time..." When I used his phone to make a video call to ME, it works (his phone can make a video call but couldn't receive a video call).

All of my family have iPhones. Honestly, the only thing I miss from the iPhone is facetime and imessaging. They worked perfectly. I wish apple would make it cross platform and sell it as an app.

I have Verizon and its a free add-on. You will be able to use it with at&t customers also.

NOT working on my phone (Verizon). Got a call from another Verizon phone (didn't try to use the video feature). She could hear me but I couldn't hear her. We both made several attempts to connect. Calls would drop and I never could hear her. Tried calling my husband's cell phone...BUSY signal :o
Tried calling to and from my landline. Calls were dropped after a few seconds. Disabled the feature and had to turn off and turn on the phone for the change to take effect.

Again, the cell site that your phone AND the other phone must BOTH support the feature.

As I said up above, this is a nearly useless feature that will only cause you a lot of headache if you travel any at all.

IF you actually succeed in getting a video call working, and then you move out of that cell site's coverage area, the call will be DROPPED!

It is a fancy feature that Verizon loves to brag about, but it is useless and a PITA.

I wasn't even trying to use the video calling feature! I was just trying to answer and make a normal call to and from a Verizon wireless number and my landline. Just the fact that the feature was enabled caused calls to drop within seconds and in the case of cell to cell, she could hear me, but I couldn't hear her (again, these were NON video phone calls). As soon as I disabled the feature and restarted the phone, everything was back to normal.

I can't see that you got your answer, if you have let me know,
All versions before lollipop iv been able to make video calls but I'm unable to with nightly ver of lollipop cm12 but I have asked if it can be added, if I find a way I'll let you know as I use it also alot

I just updated my note4 to lollipop 5.1.1 last night through Kies, and I now have the option of video calling. I don't know anyone that has it but it does work because I tried calling my husband with it. I have T-Mobile. Its built straight into my calls like facetime is on iphones. Anyone else?
