Lollipop/Does the Good Out Weigh the Bad?

Don't do it if you're on Verizon. They added something to Lollipop and rendered my phone virtually useless. Battery drain in 4-5 hrs, runs hot, can't send email or pinch zoom any longer, wifi doesn't work. This is common to many Verizon users. It's a train wreck.

I updated my VZW S5 pretty soon after the update came out. No cons so far. I know others may be having trouble, but the phone's been running flawlessly for me. I did do a factory reset, but mainly because I had been planning on doing one for a while anyway (I like to clean house and start fresh once or twice a year).

Perhaps you shouldn't HAVE TO do a factory reset, but if your having problems with this update, then it is your best option. There are very few bugs in the actual OS update, and most of what people are experiencing are conflicts with overwriting the previous version of the OS on their phone. A FR is not hard and will fix most of these problems for 99% of people. There are several free apps that will backup your apps and data. Most third-party launchers also have a backup option. Taking just a little time to backup, reset, and restore your phone will work wonders for most of you.

I wonder if I go thru and clean out some apps that, okay, I don't reeeally need that bad, like ALL the Clean Master apps, too many security apps, Avast, plus Avast Back up, etc.. If that might help? I use Touch Wiz, so no launchers. I guess I will just have to play around with it more, which will def drain battery... Ohhhh it's "I'm damned if I do and damned if I don't"!!
Thanks for idea tho😊

Too much of a good thing is too much! I agree with bsettz. All those "anti" and cleaning apps are slowing you down. As much as I love Avast for my PC, it didn't do my phone any favors. Look Out does it all (or nearly all). Less is best :) Just be mindful of what you install/download. Kinda like when you want that to die for handbag that cost $350. Sleep on it first (the idea, not the purse <g>). I don't have hundreds of apps and try to carefully scrutinize the ones I do download. But I'm still not installing Lollipop!
