Lollipop Update?

In particular, Smart Lock. This is just nowhere to be found on my phone. I would love to be able to disable my lock screen when at home or in my office but Samsung won't let me.

It's in there, Samsung isn't going to remove an underlying feature of Android. Others are reporting that Smart Lock is available on their S5s that were officially upgraded to Android 5.0 (i.e. no rooting).

I found it. It was turned off by default but once I turned it on then it appeared in the Security settings, at the bottom.

I think I was a little hasty in my condemnation of this new OS. I'll give it a run for a couple of weeks and then report back, see if I can find any other hidden goodies.

Same as MildRiot. Had to allow it in the security agents. It's quite an awesome feature.

Sad that samsung has removed the Priority Notification settings from application (it only allows you to turn on/off a notification currently rather than chose if an app is to have priority or not) , Flashlight in the drop down is gone also (from stock at least) and Multiuser seem to not be implemented yet.

Installed standard UK lollipop last night. My battery life is sucking the fat one right now.

Just under 2h screen on time, battery gone from 100% to 36%...

I hate this. They get us all excited with new features and whatnot, and then only give it to the Nexus users. By the time it gets to us, half of those "features" don't exist for Samsung. Feeling the love here, lol. :)

Boom! From My S5

Talk to Samsung. They are given the same version of Android 5.0 (or 5.0.2) as everyone else so that their phones can have the exact same features and even general GUI as a Nexus device. Samsung is the one who has to spend time bogging Android down with TouchWiz, hiding features in the Settings menu, and forcing their software onto everyone.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Samsung makes great hardware but their software (and software modifications) are pretty awful. I would have purchased a Nexus or Motorola phone instead of my S5 had those other smartphones come with a memory card reader. After owning a 64GB iPhone 5 for two years, I refuse to buy any new smartphone that either doesn't have memory card expansion (and I'm not going to spend $400, on-contract, to buy a 128GB smartphone).

Well yes and No Vodafone UK have rolled there Blaoted Version out, Not that there customers have got excited over this, Might be that they Banned user that spoke out about the Last mess of a update.
I have tested the Non bloated and i'm not impressed there is fare to much white and its not brought much change
so back it went to 4.4.2
you need to be realy sure before you upgrade

I have tested on two devices now the Non Branded BTU UK 5.0 and after a Factory wipe things are impressive as Google automatically does a optimization to make surre apps still on the phone are compatible and others removed, it seems that third party apps were causing issues running in the background after it updated
On the Other device Running Vodafone rom OMG major battery drain as there are alot going on the rom was alot bigger
there Apps made by third party companies are not working and there own update app was trying to update constantly, Now the stock BTU got another update to fix the Mute fix, but no fix for Vodafone.
I tried a factory wipe on the Vodafone but there was no fix so i had no option but to roll it back but that was easy as Kies helped as it offered me two roms the Original and 5.0
There are other issues on the site but speeking out about them can get you Banned the main is RCS and this allso has issues as that also is the pre 5.0 version and is having issues
It looks like who ever has put this rom together has not checked the apps, The controversy around RCS still goes on HTC users felt the most grief but even on 4.4.2 its a night mare if you unlock the phone and it goes to another network the company using RCS still get a copy of your messsage sent via data.
This is why samsung told me how to debrand a branded phone to stop this
so for the stock BTU rom with all the white is very good after the last update the battery is back to normal state again
so Stock BTU gets four stars, but a Network version is a No no stay with 4.4.2 and check the network forums out for issues
eg Samsung Galaxy S5 - Vodafone eForum

Do not install Lollipop if you want your alarm to work. I installed lollipop 5.0 and now the alarm WILL NOT WORK if your phone is on silent. There should be a warning when installing that says your alarm will no longer work. I had to go back to my bed-side alarm clock.

On the UK BTU they have fixed all the issues the Alarm works you need to make sure its ticked in the notifications. we have a proper Mute back the other stupid silant thing is still there
battery drain has been improved so samsung new they had issues
but you need to do a Factory wipe after the fix
it now boils down to networks to roll out the fix

Correct. There is an incremental update where they have added back in the mute function.
