Long delay in return of phone signal/service

Is there anything that I can do to my phone to get my cell service reception more quickly?
Let me explain....
I work in a hospital with horrible phone service.
Whenever I go to the underground parking garage and leave the hospital, it seems to take a long time to regain the bars for my phone service. it is like I go into the basement, lose service and have to wait a long time to regain it. I use Sprint.
Sometimes I have to put it into airplane mode and right back to get the phone service to work, then it works fine.
It eventually will come back, but it is too long!!! I hate having to put it into airplane mode and back to get the phone to make a call!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't really seen that issue on my device. I lose service in the elevator at work, for example, but it always comes right back. Sorry I can't be of more help.
