Long exposure camera app on 8.1?

I am running 8.1 on my Google Pixel XL.

I want to take some long exposure night time photos. I'm trying Camera FV-5 and others. But after a little bit of research, it seems like the Google Pixel XL does not support anything longer than .6 second exposures.

Is that right? Is there anything that can be done or am I stuck?

I don't know about the XL, but on the plain 2, it goes to 2.5 seconds (which really gives me a washed out picture in what-I-thought-was a dark room). February 8.1 update.
